Circle Decontamination - Aylesford
37.5 Hours & Permanent/Fixed Term
Salary: Up to £47,933.13 per year (depending on level of experience, training and qualification)
Circle Health Group Decontamination is responsible for the provision of sterile equipment and instrumentation for use in surgical and interventional procedures in hospitals across England and Glasgow. The unit operates 24 hours a day/7 days a week with rotating shifts covering days and nights as required.
We have an opportunity for an Production Manager to join their team of staff in the Decontamination department.
This is a full time role for 37.5 hours a week. The role holder will be required to cover a flexible shift pattern.
Duties of this role include:
- You lead the day-to-day operation of the decontamination unit, ensuring sterile instrumentation and flexible endoscopes are processed safely, efficiently and to the required quality standards.
- You plan and coordinate production activity, staffing and resources to meet customer demand, turnaround requirements and agreed service levels.
- You provide visible day-to-day leadership to Supervisors, Team Leaders, Technicians, Trainee Technicians, Drivers, Trainers and Administrators, ensuring colleagues understand their responsibilities and performance expectations.
- You provide visible leadership on quality and ensure decontamination activities operate in accordance with the unit’s electronic Quality Management System (eQMS) and applicable standards and requirements.
- You support the maintenance of relevant quality.
- You build and maintain strong relationships with hospitals, consultants, clinical users and other customers, ensuring their requirements are understood and services remain responsive to operational and clinical needs.
- You support effective management of the unit’s operational budget, consumable expenditure, payroll and other costs within agreed financial limits.
Applicants should meet the following criteria:
- Proven experience working within a Sterile Services Department (SSD), medical device decontamination and/or endoscopy decontamination environment.
- Strong operational knowledge of sterile services processes, equipment and decontamination workflows.
- Working knowledge of surgical instrumentation and associated tracking and traceability systems.
- Experience of leading, supervising or managing operational teams within a decontamination or comparable regulated environment.
- Experience working with quality management systems and undertaking audits or compliance checks.
- Knowledge of relevant decontamination quality and regulatory requirements.
- Strong people management, coaching and performance management capability.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Good IT skills, including Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
- Strong organisational and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage operational priorities and deadlines.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively as part of a wider management team.
- Flexibility to work across shift patterns, including weekends, Bank Holidays and unsocial hours according to operational requirements.
