The role

What will you be doing?

Are you an experienced product professional with a strong background in health, protection or workplace benefits insurance? We’re looking for a Product Proposition Manager to help shape and deliver Unum’s product roadmap, turning insight and opportunity into customer-focused propositions that support sustainable growth.
You’ll work closely with the Head of Product Proposition and partners across the business to develop compelling business cases, guide products through their lifecycle and bring innovative initiatives to market. This is a highly collaborative role with real scope to influence senior stakeholders, improve customer journeys and contribute to our strategic priorities.

What will you bring?


  • Support and maintain the product roadmap across group risk, health and individual protection portfolios, with a strong focus on Unum’s Dental, Optical and Health Cash Plan products.
  • Develop product proposals and robust business cases, presenting recommendations to senior stakeholders and governance committees.
  • Manage product lifecycle activity, including product reviews, fair value assessments, enhancements and supporting documentation.
  • Use market insight, competitor analysis and data to shape product design, positioning and customer outcomes.
  • Build strong relationships across leadership, operations, distribution, finance, legal and compliance to secure buy-in and deliver change.
  • Support broker and client conversations, RFP responses, pitch presentations and relevant industry forums.
  • Help deliver profitable growth, retention and improved customer journeys, including opportunities to digitise processes.
  • Contribute to effective product governance and regulatory requirements, including Consumer Duty and the Risk Management Framework.

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Strong, demonstrable experience in the health and protection insurance industry, including workplace benefits.
  • A sound technical understanding of health and protection arrangements.
  • Experience designing, implementing and presenting customer-focused product initiatives.
  • Strong commercial judgement, with experience supporting SMEs and large employers and using data to inform decisions.
  • A results-focused approach, with the ability to solve problems, drive change and turn ideas into action.
  • Excellent relationship-building and influencing skills, including confidence working with senior and C-suite stakeholders.
  • A relevant degree or professional qualification, or equivalent practical experience.

This role will be hybrid, based in Dorking 1 day a week and London 2 days a week.
