Your Role: Product Owner   

  

This role presents a fantastic opportunity for a dynamic, data-driven product owner to develop our portfolio of consumer products.  Global Player allows listeners to enjoy all Global’s radio brands, award-winning podcasts, expertly curated playlists, stay up to date with the latest news, and enter competitions to win industry leading prizes. 

This role will focus on the competition’s element of Global Player, taking full responsibility for the development and evolution of competitions on our platform. You’ll own the product roadmap, working closely with a third-party development team to scope, build and deliver an exceptional customer experience across the product. You’ll sit alongside a team of product owners responsible for different areas of the wider Global digital portfolio with opportunities to expand into other product areas in the future.  

As a Product Owner at Global, you will:

Key Responsibilities 

Product Strategy & Roadmap (40%)  

  • Work closely with engineering, design, and commercial teams to deliver engaging, compliant competition experiences. 
  • Own and evolve the product roadmap for Global Player's competition platform, ensuring it aligns with user needs and business priorities. 
  • Prioritise features and manage the product backlog based on customer insights, data, commercial goals and technical feasibility. 
  • Define success metrics, track performance, and use data to measure impact and inform decisions. 
  • Communicate priorities and progress clearly across teams, ensuring alignment and focus on what matters most. 

Execution & Delivery (30%)  

  • Collaborate with the development and design teams to scope features, define requirements and deliver high-quality releases.  
  • Own and manage the product backlog, ensuring priorities are clear and align to business goals. 
  • Build strong working relationships with external development teams, using clear communication to maintain alignment, pace and quality of delivery 
  • Define acceptance criteria and lead on UAT testing to maintain high standards of quality and usability. 

User Experience & Data-Driven Decision Making (30%)  

  • Partner with UX and Customer Experience teams to shape intuitive, engaging user journeys that improve engagement and retention. 
  • Use data, analytics and customer insight to identify opportunities, measure impact and inform decision making. 
  • Balance commercial objectives with user needs to drive sustainable growth and a strong customer experience.

What Success Looks Like 

In your first few months, you’ll have:  

  • Gained a strong understanding of Global's strategy and how competitions drive engagement and commercial value. 
  • Built strong relationships with key stakeholders across product, tech, and compliance both within Global and externally. 
  • Taken ownership of the competition platform roadmap and aligned priorities with business goals. 
  • Defined clear success metrics and started tracking performance. 
  • Shipped your first features and begun measuring their impact on engagement and user experience. 

What You’ll Need 

  • Experience in a Product Owner role within a B2C environment (2+ years) 
  • Experience working in SCRUM/Agile environments 
  • Can cut through noise and complexity, focus on what matters most, and communicate with clarity and confidence. 
  • Comfortable working at pace, balancing competing priorities and adapting quickly to change. 
  • Strong UX instincts, with a focus on creating simple, intuitive and engaging customer experiences. 
  • A data-driven mindset, using analytics and insight to shape priorities and inform decision-making. 
  • Able to work closely with technical teams and translate complex concepts clearly for non-technical stakeholders. 
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to work effectively with external development parties and keep teams aligned. 
  • Experience of media brands and an understanding of competitions or prize-draw mechanics would be an advantage.
