Job Description

NB: This role is remote or hybrid depending on your location. In either case, this role expects the successful candidate to travel to our offices and to customer sites upon request.

Role Overview

  • The registries pillar of NEC Health is a key growth driver. We are seeking an experienced product owner who is excited by improving the lives of patients by driving better clinical outcomes and championing value-based care. You will combine a strong delivery focus with a bias for action - releasing iterative, quality value as often as possible to your customers and users. You will clearly demonstrate you are a safe pair of hands to get the job done through challenging times, be the subject matter expert of your product, and a true leader who aligns your wider product team.

Accountabilities

Strategy:

  • Iterative value delivery. Break down initiatives into small, frequently releasable increments of value - assessing outcomes with customers and stakeholders throughout delivery.

  • Voice of the customer. Build trusted customer/user relationships and represent customer needs and preferences within the wider product team.

  • User‑centred design. Apply design‑thinking to map end‑to‑end user, patient and data journeys - working with design teams to improve usability and experience. Organise and lead customer & user engagement/feedback sessions (individual and group).

  • Market & competitor awareness. Maintain a strong understanding of your domain, market trends and competitors to inform prioritisation and product decisions.

  • Measuring success. Define and track product key performance indicators (KPIs) aligned to your business unit’s objectives and key results (OKRs), sourcing data where gaps exist.

  • Third‑party collaboration. Work with technical teams to assess third‑party solutions, ensuring value for money and strategic fit.

Operations & Communication:

  • Product backlog ownership. Own and manage/prioritise the product backlog, balancing system health, delivery commitments and incremental value – able to build clear narratives explaining your decisions that gain buy-in. You will maintain a minimal amount of ‘ready’ work within your backlog to keep your team forever busy.

  • Demand management & requirements gathering/documentation. Own the new demand funnel into your team, as well as the prioritisation of new working coming into your team. Be accountable for the quality and sign off requirements & user story documentation – collaborating with the wider product team to define and meet acceptance criteria and ‘ready’/‘done’ standards.

  • Quality products, on time. Accountable for value delivered to customers. Work with technical leads to ensure scalable, quality, interoperable solutions are delivered on time, whilst coordinating releases and associated communications.

  • Release coordination. Coordinate releases and associated communications to ensure clarity and readiness for customers and stakeholders.

  • Stakeholder/customer management. Build trusted relationships with internal and external stakeholders/customers – including using proactive, clear, and personalised communication.

  • Team ways of working. Work with development leaders to maintain effective team RACI and strive to continuously improve delivery predictability, quality, efficiency and effectiveness.

  • Product collateral. Create and maintain all product collateral necessary to enable comms, sales, marketing and the implementation teams to be successful.

Sales and commercial acumen:

  • Product ROI. Track and strive to forever improve the return on investment of your product team - working closely with finance and sales to track current and projected revenues and costs.

  • Sales enablement. Act as product SME and advocate, supporting sales with collateral, training and provide direct support in prospect pitches when required.

  • Go‑to‑market support. Support go‑to‑market execution for new features and products, acting as product SME and customer advocate.

  • Business cases. Support the creation of new business cases associated with your product – providing evidence of costings, user-analytics, and platform insights.

Soft skills and personal characteristics:

  • Exceptional communicator and presenter (written, in person, and online)

  • Self-starter and autonomous worker

  • User / customer obsessed

  • Problem solver / option creator

  • Exceptional time management and organisational skills

  • Adaptable and resilient to an ever-changing landscape

Advantageous experience:

  • Proven SaaS product owner with demonstrable delivery of customer value.

  • Delivering AI/data products.

  • Using AI to improve your efficiency and working with an AI enabled development team.

  • Experience working across agile, scaled agile and waterfall delivery.

  • Healthcare sector.

  • Familiarity with product tools (e.g. Azure DevOps, Jira, Aha!).

  • Scaled a product internationally.

Qualifications

No particular qualifications are mandatory, although degree level+ or equivalent certifications in a product, project management, business or technical related discipline would be advantageous.
