As a Product Manager, you’ll step into an exciting opportunity to join our Retail Savings Product team within the wider Group Retail Products function. You’ll play a central role in shaping and managing savings products that help customers achieve their financial goals while delivering exceptional value. With proven product management experience gained within the banking industry, ideally managing savings or other financial products, you’ll bring the expertise needed to drive meaningful impact from day one.

In this role, you’ll take full ownership of the product lifecycle, from developing new propositions and bringing them to market through to monitoring performance and ensuring consistently positive customer outcomes. Your strong verbal and written communication skills will enable you to influence decisions, collaborate effectively across the business, and champion great customer outcomes. You’ll also play a key part in driving trading performance and leading initiatives that support the continued growth of our savings book.

We are happy to consider flexible working approaches to help you perform at your best.

The working hours (per week) for this role can be between 21 and 35 hours.

At Nationwide, we offer hybrid working wherever possible. More rewarding relationships are supported through our hybrid approach, bringing colleagues together across our UK-wide estate, whilst also supporting generous access to home working. We value our time in the office to solve problems, to learn, and to feel connected.

For this job, you'll spend at least two days per week, or if part-time, you'll spend 40% of your working time, based at either our Swindon, Northampton or London office. Whilst these locations are where we are primarily looking to fill the role, if you’re an internal applicant based in a different location, we would welcome your application, and if successful, your hiring manager will provide further details on how this could work for this specific role. You can also find out more about our approach to hybrid working here

If we receive a high volume of relevant applications, we may close the advert earlier than the advertised date, so please apply as soon as you can.

Responsibilities

What you’ll be doing

In this role, you’ll help shape the strategic direction of our products by reviewing the competitive landscape and assessing our strengths and weaknesses. You’ll work closely with colleagues across the business to turn strategy into action, leading key projects and providing expert product insight.

Your focus will be on ensuring fair customer outcomes remain at the heart of everything we do, while identifying opportunities to boost business performance. You will also collaborate with stakeholders to develop and deliver a roadmap of initiatives that make a real impact.

About you

As a minimum, you’ll bring:

  • Proven experience as an established Product Manager, with strong knowledge of product management in the banking industry

  • A track record of delivering results, turning ideas into reality, and implementing initiatives that make a tangible impact for customers

  • Strong collaboration and influencing skills, with the ability to work with stakeholders to make effective decisions that balance competing priorities

  • A curious and analytical mindset, capable of reviewing data, processes, policies, and procedures to identify improvements that protect customers and the business

Our customer first behaviours put customers and members at the heart of how we work together. They are the set of behaviours that every colleague needs to display, in every role:

  • Feel what customers feel - We step into our customers’ shoes, using their feedback and insights to empathise with them and to understand their needs, so that every decision we make starts and finishes with our customers in mind

  • Say it straight - We are brave in speaking out and saying what we think – we’re honest and direct with good intent, openly sharing diverse perspectives to reach the best conclusions and using language everyone can understand

  • Push for better - We don’t settle for mediocrity, we challenge the status quo, taking responsibility for continuous improvement and personal development

  • Get it done - We prioritise what will have the greatest impact, we are decisive, and we take accountability for delivering brilliant customer outcomes

You can strengthen your application by showing how our customer first behaviours resonate with you, and where you may have already demonstrated these.

Banking – but fairer, more rewarding, and for the good of society

We forge our own path at Nationwide.

As a mutual, we’re owned by our members - those customers who bank, save or have a mortgage with us. We challenge the financial sector status quo. If you’re inspired by fairer finances, passionate about making a meaningful impact, and truly care about our customers, you’re one of us.
