Step into an exciting opportunity as a Product Manager, joining our Retail Savings Product team within the wider Group Retail Products function. This is a key role where you’ll help shape and manage products that support customers in achieving their financial goals while delivering exceptional value. If you have proven product management experience within banking, particularly across savings, or other retail financial products, you’ll have the chance to make a real impact from the outset.

You’ll take ownership of the full product lifecycle, from developing and launching new propositions to monitoring performance, enhancing customer outcomes, and driving commercial success. Working closely with stakeholders across the business, you’ll use your strong communication, influencing, and relationship-building skills to balance priorities, solve complex problems, and deliver initiatives that create tangible benefits for both customers and the organisation.

We’re looking for an established Product Manager with a track record of turning ideas into reality, delivering meaningful results, and leading successful product initiatives within the banking sector. In return, you’ll join a collaborative and forward-thinking team where your expertise will directly contribute to the continued growth and success of our retail product offering.

We are happy to consider flexible working approaches to help you perform at your best.

The working hours (per week) for this role can be between 21 and 35 hours.

At Nationwide we offer hybrid working wherever possible. More rewarding relationships are supported through our hybrid approach, bringing colleagues together across our UK wide estate, whilst also supporting generous access to home working. We value our time in the office to solve problems, to learn, and to feel connected.

For this job you'll spend at least two days per week, or if part time you'll spend 40% of your working time, based at either our Swindon, Northampton or London office. If your application is successful, your hiring manager will provide further details on how this works. You can also find out more about our approach to hybrid working here.

If we receive a high volume of relevant applications, we may close the advert earlier than the advertised date, so please apply as soon as you can.

Responsibilities

What you’ll be doing

You’ll help shape the future direction of our products by analysing the competitive landscape, identifying market opportunities, and assessing areas where we can further strengthen our proposition. Working closely with colleagues across the business, you’ll transform strategic objectives into tangible outcomes, leading key initiatives and providing expert product insight that supports informed decision-making.

With a strong customer focus, you’ll ensure fair customer outcomes remain at the heart of every decision while balancing commercial objectives and business performance. Your ability to build relationships, influence stakeholders, and turn insights into action will be key to driving continuous improvement and delivering meaningful results for both our customers and the business.

About you

You'll be an experienced and customer-focused Product Manager with a passion for developing and enhancing financial products that deliver value for both customers and the business. Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, you'll combine commercial awareness, analytical thinking, and strong relationship-building skills to drive successful product outcomes and influence decisions across a wide range of stakeholders. As a minimum, you'll bring:

  • Proven experience as a Product Manager within the banking or financial services sector, with demonstrable responsibility for products such as Retail Savings, ISAs, Current Accounts, Personal Loans, or Mortgages

  • Strong stakeholder management, collaboration, and influencing skills, with evidence of working effectively across multiple teams to drive decisions and balance competing priorities

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, with experience using data, customer insight, and market intelligence to identify opportunities and support decision-making

  • The ability to review and improve processes, policies, and customer journeys, helping to deliver fair customer outcomes while managing risk and supporting business objectives

  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, with the confidence to present recommendations, challenge constructively, and build strong working relationships at all levels

Our customer first behaviours put customers and members at the heart of how we work together. They are the set of behaviours that every colleague needs to display, in every role:

  • Feel what customers feel - We step into our customers’ shoes, using their feedback and insights to empathise with them and to understand their needs, so that every decision we make starts and finishes with our customers in mind

  • Say it straight - We are brave in speaking out and saying what we think – we’re honest and direct with good intent, openly sharing diverse perspectives to reach the best conclusions and using language everyone can understand

  • Push for better - We don’t settle for mediocrity, we challenge the status quo, taking responsibility for continuous improvement and personal development

  • Get it done - We prioritise what will have the greatest impact, we are decisive, and we take accountability for delivering brilliant customer outcomes

You can strengthen your application by showing how our customer first behaviours resonate with you, and where you may have already demonstrated these.
