Product Analyst — Payments

As a Product Analyst for Payments at J.P. Morgan Personal Investing, you will play a central role in building the metrics and reporting foundation that enables our Product team to make confident, evidence-based decisions. Payments sits at the heart of our platform — supporting all deposit methods, payment integrations, allocation flows, money out, account structures and client money management for our investments platform. There is a real opportunity here to bring structure and clarity to how we measure and understand performance.

You will work closely with Product Managers, Engineering, Operations and Data teams to define what good looks like, measure it consistently, and communicate it clearly. This is a product role — you will bring a product mindset to everything you do, using data as your tool to drive decisions, surface the right problems, and keep initiatives moving forward. You will be supported and coached to grow into broader product responsibilities as your impact and the function develops.

Our Product team is at the heart of this venture, focused on getting smart ideas into the hands of our customers. We're looking for people who have a curious mindset, thrive in collaborative squads, and are passionate about building products that make a real difference to our customers' financial lives. By their nature, our teams are solution-oriented, commercially savvy, and have a head for fintech. We work in tribes and squads that focus on specific products and projects — and depending on your strengths and interests, you'll have the opportunity to grow your scope as the function matures

Job Responsibilities

  • Establishes and maintains a weekly performance reporting cadence, producing clear and consistent readouts that track indicators, surface trends and flag where attention is needed across Product, Operations and Issue Management
  • Translates complex data into clear, exec-ready narratives — communicating what the data is telling us, what to watch, and where to dig deeper — enabling Product Managers to make well-informed decisions, challenge assumptions and prioritise with confidence
  • Uses performance monitoring and data analysis to proactively identify patterns and signals that inform product health — contributing to a more insight-led approach rather than reacting to issues after the fact
  • Takes ownership of establishing the Payments metrics framework — working in close partnership with the Product Lead to align definitions, taxonomy and data across initiatives and platform areas, creating a foundation the team can trust and act on
  • Works with Engineering to ensure data dictionaries are accurate and maintained, leveraging AI tooling to support documentation quality, and partners with Analytics teams where deeper analysis is required — coordinating and owning the output
  • Proactively drives smaller initiatives and workstreams end-to-end — working directly with engineers from requirements through to delivery, ensuring outcomes are tied back to measurable performance impact
  • Takes ownership of well-scoped work independently, writes clear requirements, and supports testing where needed to maintain delivery pace and quality
  • Works with assumptions where hard data does not yet exist — clearly articulating those assumptions, building a baseline view, and iterating as more information becomes known
  • Builds strong working relationships across Product, Engineering, Data and Operations — contributing across functions and helping embed a culture of data-informed decision making across the product team

Required Qualifications, Capabilities and Skills

  • Typically, 4–7+ years’ experience in a relevant product/analytics role
  • Degree in a quantitative/technical discipline (e.g., STEM, Economics, Statistics) or equivalent practical experience, with comfort working with technical partners and data-intensive problems
  • Proven experience in a product analyst, product owner or hybrid product role, with a demonstrable track record of hands-on delivery and ownership
  • Strong SQL skills and practical experience building KPI frameworks, defining metrics and producing reporting that teams use to make decisions — with the curiosity and initiative to go beyond SQL, leveraging AI tools and exploring smarter ways to interrogate and present data
  • Experience working directly with engineering teams and product managers to deliver initiatives end-to-end — comfortable writing requirements, seeing work through to live, and operating effectively in a fast-paced agile environment
  • Ability to translate data into a clear narrative — turning numbers into a story that informs product decisions, not just a dashboard
  • Experience working on customer-facing digital products or platforms
  • Familiarity with product analytics tooling (Amplitude, Looker or equivalent)
  • A self-starter who takes initiative, finds information out independently, and is comfortable working directly with engineers and across product managers
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to present clearly and build exec-ready outputs from complex inputs
  • Intellectually curious, commercially and market aware, and genuinely motivated by solving problems

Preferred Qualifications, Capabilities and Skills

  • Experience with end-to-end product analysis — defining problems, structuring analysis and translating findings into clear product recommendations
  • Familiarity with data governance, data quality standards or data dictionary practices from a product perspective
  • Exposure to financial services or investments platforms
  • Familiarity with financial services governance or regulatory environments
