A supportive workplace is one where employees feel they can be themselves and operate to their full potential. We are committed to removing barriers for everyone, with a focus on addressing those faced by underrepresented groups.

The Role

As Product Director for Internal Products at the FT, you will shape the tools, platforms and workflows that enable our global teams to do their best work, whether that is journalists producing world class journalism or commercial teams achieving ambitious sales, marketing and revenue goals. This includes systems used across the newsroom, commercial and reader revenue teams, marketing, sales, finance, advertising operations, customer operations and other functions across the FT’s portfolio.

The Internal Products group spans two core domains: editorial technology, covering the tools used to create and publish FT journalism, and commercial and revenue operations platforms that support marketing, sales and customer operations.

A core part of the role is building deep, trusted partnerships across both domains. You will work closely with journalists, editors and commercial teams as partners, ensuring internal products reflect real ways of working and support both editorial judgement and commercial effectiveness.

You will lead the development of internal products that sit at the heart of the FT’s broader product ecosystem, spanning a mix of in-house platforms, third-party tools and integrated systems. These include editorial and publishing tools, newsroom and audience insight systems, customer understanding and communication platforms, workflow automation and data informed operational tools, as well as sales and marketing technology that supports our revenue teams. Internal Products also plays a key role in improving how the FT’s internal tools fit together and how they are used across teams.

Together, these platforms support the FT’s ability to serve readers and customers. You will help set direction and improve efficiency through simpler workflows, smarter automation and clearer product choices over time, ensuring the FT’s internal products remain a genuine strategic advantage.

Responsibilities
  • Lead experienced product teams across editorial technology and commercial and revenue operations platforms.
  • Build strong partnerships with newsroom, commercial and operational teams, treating users as active partners in shaping priorities and workflows.
  • Set the long term strategy for modernising internal products and aligning capabilities across editorial, commercial, marketing and operational functions.
  • Work closely with engineering and data teams as strategic partners to understand real workflows, simplify processes end to end and reduce duplication.
  • Oversee editorial systems, workflow automation, communication platforms and shared operational tools used across the FT.
  • Support clear decision making and prioritisation, helping teams understand trade offs and focus on work with the greatest long term impact.
  • Ensure internal products are intuitive and genuinely helpful for colleagues across the organisation.
Apply if you
  • Have an interest in internal products, platform or workflow modernisation efforts in complex organisations.
  • Enjoy understanding how large organisations actually work and guiding teams toward simpler, more coherent and more efficient systems.
  • Can work confidently across editorial, commercial and operational teams, building trusted relationships with diverse stakeholders.
  • Combine subject matter understanding with a willingness to learn deeply about new domains, constraints and workflows.
  • Are comfortable navigating legacy systems and modernisation opportunities at the same time, helping teams balance short-term iteration with long range planning of bigger initiatives.
  • Empower teams while staying close enough to the work to provide clarity, guidance and thoughtful challenge.
  • Believe internal tools should have the same ambition, craft and care as user facing products.
  • Care about operational excellence, workflow clarity, automation opportunities and supporting colleagues in doing their best work.
