What’s the role about?
As our Menswear Product Developer you will manage sample management and product management, taking ownership of the critical path of the production process. While also driving and implementing the sourcing and product development strategy within your team, liaising with Design, Merchandising, Buying and Technical departments to manage the product critical path and ensure departmental margin targets are achieved. You must ensure that your department maintains an excellent sourcing base, strong supplier relationships and innovative product development throughout the supply chain.

  • Team player and be able to work independently
  • Experience in buying is beneficial but not essential
  • Strong communication skills both written and verbal
  • A great understanding of the critical path
  • Organised and able to priorities workload
  • Understanding of supply management, sample development and cost management
  • Previous experience within retail head office

What you’ll be doing

  • Liaise with Product Manager on factory plan for the coming season
  • Plan factory prototype sample requirements
  • Ensure costings and fabric ratings have been received from the supplier and negotiated where necessary
  • Confirm production ex-factory dates with suppliers
  • Add costs to buy sheets for sign off
  • Negotiate factory cost prices for approval
  • Review/update critical path on a daily basis
  • Work with the Design team and factories on timely lab dip submissions/approvals
  • Liaise with fabric and trim departments on ex-mill dates and trim available dates
  • Attend fit meetings to ensure problems are highlighted and communicated to suppliers
  • Liaise with Merchandising and Design teams to ensure all departments have the same information
