Our Ways of Working Principles:

We believe that most of us do our best work when we work together, but we know that everyone works in different ways, and quite frankly, has other commitments and responsibilities outside of work.

As we further adjust to hybrid working, we want to take what we've learnt from working remotely and keep the flexibility that's enabled us to thrive and keep driving our business forward.

We have some core principles which support us in this:

Do what’s right

Trust & give permission

Delivery matters

We understand ways of working can look different based on your role, team and you as an individual so we are here to support and discuss this with you during the interview process.

Please note, this role can be based in London or Manchester on a hybrid basis, with no mandatory office working days.

Work with us

At Moonpig Group our mission is to help people connect and create moments that matter. We’re an international group made up of three brilliant brands – Moonpig in the UK, Ireland, US and Australia, and Greetz in the Netherlands – with our newest addition Buyagift joining us in 2022.

We were founded with a goal to disrupt the traditional greetings industry. Two decades on, we’re an established leader within the online gifting market, offering a wide range of products to customers across the world.

Moonpig is an iconic brand and innovator, with clear values (read more about our values here!). These values set our teams and our business up for success in an environment that’s fun, supportive and challenging. They’re the glue that binds us together and we think of them as a platform to help us deliver our best work. You have every chance to drive impact here at Moonpig, and most importantly, we genuinely want you!

Our architecture is built for scale and flexibility which will allow us to quickly innovate and launch new propositions - coupling that with the wealth of data we have on our customers, the sky's the limit in the world of experimenting with cutting edge ideas.

Why do our Product Designers love working for us?

Everything at Moonpig starts from design connected to the needs and aspirations of our users. The Product Design team is a core group helping improve the Moonpig Group platform, and helping the business hit its ambitious growth targets by crafting user centric experiences for our diverse range of customers.

We impact the business across all the stages of the customer life cycle with a huge emphasis on crafting delightful experiences that our customers love. We are strongly design-driven and heavily data-focused. We strive to be the best investigators and data scientists. To support the growth of this mindset - we offer lots of internal coaching in user research and data analytics to any member of the team. Each person is valued for the diverse background they bring to the team and we have a culture of high-challenge / high-support to help you reach your full potential. We value fast-paced and high-skilled collaborative cross-functional teams.

We sit at the intersection of Technology, Business, and Product teams to help our customers send messages of care daily and create moments that matter with their loved ones. Be part of making this happen!

About the role:

Working in our amazing Product & Design team, and collaborating with one of our talented Product Managers and Engineering Managers, you will be leading the design direction for one of our many agile squads. You will understand our customers’ needs by conducting research, analysing user feedback and leveraging user data to help us identify key opportunities we should explore to help us become the ultimate gifting companion, whilst validating and delivering your team's great ideas with customers as quickly as possible to truly create moments that matter.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Driving a user centric approach to everything we do, embedding UX principles and a data driven approach in your teams work
  • Owning and delivering intuitive, efficient and delightful user experiences across our native apps (and website), working hand in hand with PMs and Engineers on a daily basis
  • Sketching, creating user journey maps, wireframes, mockups and prototypes, to improve the usability and accessibility of our product to meet user needs
  • Creating an inspiring vision and strategy with your team to help drive the direction of your squad.
  • Working with our research team to conduct user research to inform your designs
  • Validating your own work with customers through our user testing tools to ensure you’re creating experiences that meet user needs
  • Collaborating with our peers in the data and analytics teams to ensure you’re making data driven decisions
  • Contributing reusable design components to our design system
  • Working collaboratively with other designers, product managers, researchers, engineers and stakeholders across teams such as marketing, commercial, brand, and content to help us achieve our business and customer goals together
  • You will be encouraged to work app first, considering native design patterns within your design and how we optimise for the small screen, before translating to web
  • Presenting your design decisions and vision to the wider design team and stakeholders to gain buy-in and inspire others to follow your user centric direction
  • Supporting experimentation plans to help validate your hypothesis and prove the impact of your design at pace

You'll be a great addition to the team if:

  • You’re comfortable with many elements of the design process, from creating beautiful UI and interaction design, to well thought through UX design and research. We look for well rounded designers who can own the end to end design process within their squad, and love both the craft and strategy.
  • You’re competent in designing simple and slick experiences for iOS and/or Android, and have examples of this in your portfolio
  • You’re pragmatic, so you can break down complex work into manageable chunks
  • Have experience running experiments to validate your hypothesis and building iterations based on what you learn
  • A strong communicator, able to communicate effectively and persuasively with your peers, leaders, and stakeholders no matter the seniority
  • Have hands-on experience with UX Research and user testing techniques and evidence of a data driven approach in your work
  • You have experience in workshop facilitation, can bring people together and align them on problem understanding and solution generation, no matter their background (i.e. marketing and commercial teams)
  • You’re a self starter, able to manage your own time effectively and set high expectations of yourself, planning out work to ensure deadlines are met with minimal supervision
  • You’re curious, always wanting to learn and discover new things about our customers, our business, and yourself.
  • Have 3+ years of commercial B2C UX design experience (preferably on apps) and have experience working with commercial stakeholders to achieve business objectives

More about you:

  • You’re always curious, demonstrating a growth mindset and are continually looking for ways to learn new things (and teach others!) whether that be up-skilling the team on design tools and process, learning more about our customers needs, or developing yourself as a designer.
  • You’re able to communicate in a clear and persuasive way, and defend design decisions in front of senior stakeholders, for example presenting your work to Directors and VPs.
  • You are a great team player with impeccable collaboration skills, able to bring others on the journey, communicating your ideas to seek feedback early and often, whether that be from your design or PM peers, from customers, or senior stakeholders.
  • You’re able to demonstrate a commercial mindset, using data to prioritise your work to ensure you’re working on the biggest opportunity, and showing how your work helps deliver against our business goals, for example improving conversion rates and usability.
  • You’re comfortable working in a fast paced environment, prioritise action, and can adapt to change effectively.
  • You love testing your ideas and learning quickly, even if that means you fail fast. You see failure as an opportunity to learn rather than a setback, and you always prioritise learning quickly.

Bonus:

  • You’re a visionary designer, often pushing the boundaries of what’s possible and thinking ‘future back’ to help us craft future proof experiences
  • You’re comfortable with a wide range of prototyping techniques at various speeds and levels of fidelity, and can use these to bring your ideas to life quickly
  • You have experience working with Design Systems
  • Have a great understanding of technology and are able to think in and out of its constraints
