Your Role: Producer, Tom Swarbrick on Drive

We’re looking for an ambitious and diligent Producer to join Tom Swarbrick on Drive, live on LBC from 4pm–6pm weekdays and 4pm–7pm on Fridays.

Reporting into the Deputy Managing Editor, you’ll play a key role in shaping and delivering a fast-paced live programme, generating compelling ideas, responding to breaking news and creating content that connects with LBC’s audiences across radio, digital and social.

As a Producer at Global, you will:

Key Responsibilities

  • Live Programme Production – 30%: Ensure the smooth running and output of the live show, responding quickly to breaking news and confidently managing a fast-moving rundown.

  • Editorial Planning & Content Development – 20%: Work closely with Tom Swarbrick and the wider team to develop engaging topics, original angles and thought-provoking audience questions that resonate with LBC listeners.

  • Guest Booking – 15%: Secure relevant, high-impact guests and compelling case studies that strengthen the programme, bring stories to life and help explain complex topics to our audience.

  • Compliance & Quality Control – 20%: Ensure all content meets LBC’s high editorial standards and regulatory requirements, applying strong knowledge of media law, Ofcom regulations and Global’s editorial guidelines.

  • Post-Show Content & Digital Engagement – 15%: Identify opportunities to repurpose and develop the strongest moments from the programme for LBC’s website, app and social media platforms, helping the show reach new and existing audiences.

In your first few months, you’ll have:

  • Built strong relationships with Tom and the wider LBC team, creating seamless collaboration across the programme.

  • Helped set the daily agenda, balancing breaking news with original and engaging angles on the day’s biggest stories.

  • Secured great guests and contributors who elevate the conversation and resonate with listeners.

  • Developed a strong approach to both pre-show and post-show content, identifying opportunities to reach and engage audiences across new platforms.

What You’ll Need

  • Strong Editorial Judgement: You can identify the stories, angles and questions that will spark debate, inform listeners and drive engagement.

  • Live Production Experience: You’ll have at least three years’ experience in the industry, be confident working in a live radio gallery and thrive under pressure.

  • Audience-First Mindset: You understand LBC’s audience and know how to shape content that cuts through.

  • First-Class Communication: Whether briefing a presenter, working with contributors or pitching an idea, you communicate clearly and confidently.

  • Guest Booking Experience: You know how to secure high-impact guests, insightful contributors and case studies that add genuine value to the conversation.

  • Digital Awareness: You recognise the potential in every moment of radio and understand which stories and clips can work across LBC’s digital and social platforms.

  • Compliance Knowledge: You have a strong understanding of media law, Ofcom regulations and Global’s editorial guidelines and are comfortable applying them in real time.
