Principal UX Designer

The team builds a driver-facing mobile application for daily navigation, routing, and location-based experiences, designed to perform reliably across regions, devices, and real-world driving conditions. The app is supported by scalable backend services and in-vehicle integrations that power routing optimization, location intelligence, and insights derived from aggregated usage patterns. The focus is on delivering consistently a high-quality mobile experience that meets user’s needs and aligns with business objectives. The role 

We are seeking a Principal UX Designer – Mobile Solutions to define and drive the long‑term UX vision for HERE’s next‑generation driver‑facing mobile experiences. As a senior design leader, you will partner closely with executive stakeholders, product leadership, engineering directors, and cross‑functional teams to shape strategic design direction, elevate design maturity, and ensure world‑class product experiences at scale. 

This role pushes beyond execution as you’ll influence strategy, steward the design system ecosystem, and mentor designers across teams to achieve excellence in user‑centered design. 

What you will do  

• Define and lead the UX vision, design strategy, and multi‑year experience roadmap for mobile solutions.
• Champion a user‑centered, data‑informed approach that balances user needs, technical constraints, and business goals.
• Evolve and scale design standards, systems, and frameworks used across mobile platforms and cross‑functional teams.
• Ensure design excellence, consistency, and accessibility across product lines and touchpoints.
• Collaborate with Product Management, Engineering, Marketing, Customer Teams, and In‑Vehicle teams to drive cohesive, end‑to‑end user experiences.
• Influence senior technical and business partners, using storytelling and evidence‑based insights to align decision‑making.
• Lead workshops, design reviews, and strategic discovery efforts to accelerate product impact.
• Bring thought leadership on emerging UX trends, tools, and methodologies.
• Facilitate advanced user research and insight synthesis to inform product strategy and long‑term opportunities.
• Explore and prototype future concepts that push HERE’s mobile experiences forward. 

What we’re looking for 

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Design or a related field.
• 10+ years experience designing complex digital products, including significant experience with consumer mobile applications.
• Proven track record in shaping product experience strategy at scale.
• Strong systems thinking abilities and expertise in design systems for large‑scale, multi‑platform environments.
• Excellent visual, interaction, and product design capabilities with a portfolio demonstrating strategic impact.
• Expertise in research‑driven design, data‑informed iteration, and inclusive design practices.
• Strong communication and storytelling skills, with the ability to influence at senior levels.
• Experience working in international, distributed teams within complex B2B/B2C ecosystems.
• Fluency in spoken and written English.
