About the role

As a Principal Scientist in Biologics, you will play a central role in shaping Boltz Lab’s platform by bringing deep biological insight into how our machine learning systems are designed, evaluated, and used by scientists. You will ensure that the models and tools we build reflect real-world biologics engineering workflows and address the practical challenges faced by researchers working on antibodies, peptides, and other biologic modalities.
You will work closely with ML researchers and engineers to guide model development, from defining biologically meaningful objectives and datasets to interpreting model outputs and failure modes. Your scientific expertise will directly influence product decisions, helping translate cutting-edge ML research into capabilities that are intuitive, trustworthy, and impactful for scientists in the lab.
This role is ideal for a strong, product-minded scientist who wants to extend their impact beyond individual projects by shaping a platform that empowers thousands of scientists worldwide. You will set scientific direction while remaining hands-on, holding a high bar for biological rigor, thoughtful product design, and real-world impact.

About you

Essentials:
  • PhD or equivalent, with additional industrial or academic research experience in biologics engineering, structural biology, protein science, bioengineering, or a closely related field.
  • Strong hands-on experience designing, engineering, or characterizing biologics.
  • Deep understanding of biologics discovery and optimization workflows.
  • Ability to work closely with ML researchers and engineers, translating biological problems into clear modeling objectives and evaluation criteria.
  • Experience interpreting computational model outputs and connecting them to biological and experimental outcomes.
  • Product-minded scientific thinking, with the ability to influence platform design and roadmap decisions based on real user needs.
  • Strong communication skills, able to articulate complex biological concepts to interdisciplinary teams.

Nice to have:
  • Familiarity with structural modeling, docking, or protein design tools (e.g. structure prediction, scoring, or simulation workflows).
  • Applied experience using Boltz models on biologic research projects.
  • Interest in scaling scientific impact through platforms, tools, or open scientific infrastructure.

What we offer

  • Opportunity to drive outsized real-world impact by building tools that empower thousands of scientists across the industry.
  • Work alongside one of the most talent-dense teams in the field.
  • Significant ownership and independence, with responsibility for driving projects from concept to deployment.
  • Highly competitive salary with substantial equity ownership.
