The Role

We are seeking an Associate to join our principal investment team, focused on control and structured equity investments across the metals & mining value chain, including upstream mining assets, processing infrastructure, logistics, and asset-backed commodity platforms.

The Associate will play a key role in evaluating and executing investments in physical, cash-flow-generating commodity assets.

You will lead detailed financial modelling and valuation analysis, manage diligence processes across technical and commercial workstreams, and support active portfolio management of operating mining and resource-backed businesses. As well as being a key contributor you will also role model and support junior colleagues through projects in order to achieve the best outcomes.

  • Build and own detailed financial models for mining and physical commodity assets, including life-of-mine (LOM) models, NAV analysis, commodity price sensitivities, and capital structure optimisation.
  • Evaluate acquisition opportunities through valuation analysis and prepare relevant materials for investment committees and wider stakeholders.
  • Participate in transaction structuring and execution, including acquisition agreements, financing arrangements, royalty/streaming structures, and offtake-linked investments.
  • Manage financial, technical, geological, environmental, and legal due diligence workstreams; coordinate third-party advisors and translate technical findings into underwriting adjustments.
  • Monitor portfolio asset performance, including production metrics, cost curves, capex deployment, and hedging exposure; support refinancing and expansion initiatives.
  • Track market dynamics and contribute to thematic research and origination within targeted commodity subsectors.
  • Provide mentorship to more junior team members with technical expertise through deal experience.

Requirements
  •  Experience of working on complex, structured transactions within a high calibre institution
  • Strong financial modelling expertise, including life-of-mine (LOM) models, NAV analysis, and commodity price sensitivity analysis for mining/real asset investments within a
  • Proven experience evaluating investment opportunities, with the ability to independently build valuation analyses and contribute to investment committee materials
  • Hands-on involvement in transaction execution, with exposure to deal structuring (acquisitions, project finance, royalties/streams, offtake arrangements etc)
  • Ability to manage and drive due diligence workstreams (financial, technical, legal, ESG), coordinating others and synthesising findings into investment recommendations
  • Experience monitoring and analysing asset performance (production, cost curves, capex, hedging), with input into optimisation, refinancing, or growth initiatives
  • Good commercial understanding of commodity markets, with ability to support thematic research, market analysis, and origination efforts
  • Strong communication skills, able to translate complex inputs into clear, actionable investment insights for internal and external stakeholders
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor and support junior team members, contributing to team development and knowledge sharing.
