About the Role

The Solutions Engineering team at Envoy lives within the Customer Success organization but touches every team (sales, product, engineering, finance, etc). The team is adaptable and has the uncanny ability to pick up new skills quickly. Each day is different and involves assisting account executives with the pre-sales process, security questions, QA’ing some experimental functionality, or jumping on a call to both triage and solve a customer issue. The Solutions Engineering team is multifaceted at Envoy and includes elements of sales engineering, API development, support escalations, and world-class enterprise customer support. You might be a Solutions Engineer if you are technology-forward, enjoy learning new third-party SaaS products, find workarounds to make customers happy, and love playing with the latest technology.

This is a hybrid position that requires 4 days a week (Monday - Thursday) in our London, England office.

You will

  • Align with the Sales team (Channel, SMB, Mid-Market, and Enterprise segments) to assist in all aspects of the pre-sales process, such as technical demos, security reviews/questionnaires, and discussions around technical requirements while setting realistic expectations with prospects and customers. This is typically a co-lead Sales effort in the upmarket segments.
  • Work closely with a customer’s information technology, security, and legal teams to maintain compliance and user security standards.
  • Be the liaison between customer-facing teams and Product, Engineering, and Design teams. You will be the voice of the customer during product roadmap meetings, ensuring that company goals are aligned with customer needs and that implementation is executed with the customers' best interest in mind.
  • Hunt down answers within data and logs to uncover sneaky product bugs.
  • Advocate for Envoy’s customers and provide critical feedback to product and engineering teams to greatly influence the direction of our products.
  • Educate coworkers on complex technical issues like SAML, SCIM, OAuth, Active Directory, and cloud infrastructure.
  • Become well versed in Envoy’s Developer & Integration Platform in order to speak and demonstrate how our various integrations are interconnected. This includes understanding our API capabilities to help the customer and/or partner to begin their own development.

You have

  • 6+ years in Solutions Engineering, Customer Engineering, Technical Sales Engineering, Solution Architecture, or Partner Engineering roles; alternatively 7+ years in a Technical Account Management role
  • Intermediate SQL skills and can easily investigate issues through data.
  • Familiarity with git and command-line tools.
  • You know how the internet works (i.e. DNS, HTTP, TLS, Certificates, etc).
  • You have a basic understanding of APIs; an understanding of API architecture (i.e. entity hierarchy, statelessness, idempotent methods, etc) is a plus
  • The ability to write simple Ruby and/or Python scripts to solve day-to-day issues.
  • Willing to travel to Prospect or Partner engagements on a per-request basis (<~30% annually)

You are

  • Scrappy. You have a hybrid of functional and technical skills that emphasize your problem-solving strategies and attention to detail.
  • Comfortable communicating with high-level   (IT directors, legal teams, and facilities managers) and can have heart-to-heart conversations with software developers.
  • An excellent communicator, both verbal and written.
  • A self-starter who enjoy owning projects end-to-end. You thrive in small teams and enjoy the challenge of occasionally stepping outside your comfort zone to learn something new.
  • Security-conscious. As Envoy becomes commonplace worldwide, the data we store will be more and more valuable. It is your job to make our storage practices a no-brainer for our customers and evangelize best practices.
  • Interested in educating others and helping your team grow together.

Nice to have

  • Working with Tech/Alliance Partners or Channel Managers
  • 1+ years in leadership experience
  • You have the ability to learn Ruby on Rails Active Record Query Interface
