How you will contribute
Provide IT expertise and advice to all functions and services within RDQI. Be able to understand, design, and present viable business solutions to drive technological advantage in the business, as well as having the ability to deliver these solutions within given resources and time constraints.
Specifically this role contributes towards this by:

  • Supporting the business in the adoption, use and development of scientific and business applications.
  • Analysing the business needs of internal clients and stakeholders to identify and quantify business problems, propose solutions and effectively implement the solution including providing appropriate training and user support.


Providing support and contribution to the MDLZ RDQ IT community by offering expertise, advice and assistance as it may be required. At the Reading Science Centre this role is responsible for developing and maintaining applications used by approximately 330 employees and 100+ instruments
In addition to designing, building and supporting various business solutions the role has a key responsibility in ensuring the safety and security of those solutions so to protect the information wealth of the business. This involves strong knowledge database technologies including Microsoft SQL and Oracle.
Primary Accountabilities/Responsibilities

  • Provide insight and advice to IT management and site Leadership members on all IT application and business system technical matters, and be able to propose solutions and articulate potential risks and rewards clearly.
  • Development lead for Mondelez Labware LIMS environments, developing high quality solutions for business needs. Participate and advise in formulating plans for ongoing improvements to LIMS and associated infrastructure.
  • Provide 3rd Line support and advice for scientific and bespoke business applications at all levels of the business including but not limited to; Labare LIMS, Appletspace, Microsoft Dynamics, My RSSL, OpenLAB, Q-Pulse, IMS and other bespoke applications.
  • Provide insight and advice to IT management on all IT application and business system technical matters, and be able to propose solutions and articulate potential risks and rewards clearly.
  • Provide backup to the lead developer for Oracle databases including regular observation and maintenance, to ensure the ongoing stability and efficiency of the hosted applications.
  • Apply analytical skills to change requests, which are often high-level or lacking in detail and act on these business needs, identifying solutions to quickly resolve issues related to scientific or local business applications.
  • Work with project managers to plan and execute the implementation of changes to applications, with minimal disruption to business operations, or risk to data safety and integrity, and in accordance with operational quality standards and appropriate regulatory and legislative requirements.
  • Perform training for new/updated applications to end users including documentation where appropriate to enable them to make effective use of company applications.


What you will bring

  • Extensive knowledge of developing Labware LIMS, including design, development, administration, backup and recovery. Leading complex projects - project management
  • Knowledge and experience of other modern programming language(s) e.g. SQL, Javascript, etc
  • Admintsration knowledge of database technologies including Microsoft SQL and Oracle.
  • In depth knowledge and proven ability to build software in at least one industry standard development framework (C# and .Net preferred).
  • Knowledge of scientific software applications and the unique requirements of the scientific user base.
  • Stakeholder management and influencing skills
  • Managing infrastructure services delivery, support and excellence
  • Working in global IT function with regional or global responsibilities in an environment like Mondelēz International
  • Working with IT outsourcing providers using frameworks such as the IT Infrastructure Library
  • Working with internal and external teams and leading when necessary
