Description:

R_358402 – Portfolio Insight and Performance Manager

We are seeking a talented individual to join our Portfolio Solutions – Fast Track team at Marsh Risk. This role will be based in London, Birmingham or Norwich. This is a hybrid role that has a requirement of working at least three days a week in the office.

The Portfolio Insight & Performance Manager is responsible for building and then leading a best-in-class, insurer-quality Portfolio Management capability for Fast Track. The role will establish the processes, insights, and governance required to monitor portfolio performance, identify emerging trends and risks, and support decision-making across the underwriting lifecycle.

Once established, the role will own the day-to-day portfolio insight and performance process, developing and monitoring both backward-looking and forward-looking metrics to provide a clear view of portfolio health. This includes identifying key insights, opportunities, and potential challenges across the developing portfolio, and translating those insights into practical action plans in partnership with the Chief Underwriting Officer (CUO) and Regional Underwriting Leads.

The role will also lead the Underwriting Business Plan process and ensure that Fast Track’s performance is considered through the combined lens of the client, broker, MGA, and carrier, balancing commercial growth with underwriting portfolio balance. The Portfolio Insight & Performance Manager will oversee both Claims and Underwriting Performance analysis and will leverage central Actuarial support and outputs to strengthen insight, planning, and execution.

We will count on you to:

  • Build and embed an insurer-quality portfolio management framework for Fast Track.
  • Define and implement the processes, metrics, and governance required to monitor portfolio performance effectively.
  • Develop and monitor both backward-looking and forward-looking portfolio performance metrics.
  • Analyse portfolio trends to identify key insights, opportunities, and potential challenges.
  • Work with the CUO and Regional Underwriting Leads to develop action plans in response to portfolio insights.
  • Support initiatives aimed at improving portfolio performance, such as driving increased adoption in priority segments (e.g. German Cyber) to support indexation.
  • Own and run the ongoing Underwriting Business Plan process.
  • Coordinate inputs from placement, underwriting, actuarial, claims, and other stakeholders.
  • Leverage central Actuarial outputs to inform portfolio analysis and planning.
  • Interpret actuarial data and translate it into practical underwriting insight.
  • Build strong working relationships to support informed and coordinated portfolio decisions.

What you need to have:

  • Experience in portfolio management, underwriting performance, actuarial analysis, insurance analytics, or a similar role.
  • Strong understanding of underwriting performance, claims performance, and portfolio optimisation.
  • Experience developing management information, metrics, and insight frameworks.
  • Ability to translate complex data into clear commercial recommendations.
  • Analytical and commercially minded
  • Strategic, but practical and execution-focused
  • Strong communicator and collaborator

What makes you stand out?

  • Strong stakeholder management skills, with experience working across underwriting, claims, actuarial, and leadership teams.
  • Ability to balance strategic thinking with hands-on execution.
  • Experience working in or with MGA, carrier, broker, or client-facing insurance environments is highly desirable.
  • Comfortable working across multiple stakeholder lenses
  • Proactive, structured, and outcome-oriented
  • Able to challenge constructively and influence decision-making

Why join our team:

  • We help you be your best through professional development opportunities, interesting work and supportive leaders.
  • We foster a vibrant and inclusive culture where you can work with talented colleagues to create new solutions and have impact for colleagues, clients and communities.
  • Our scale enables us to provide a range of career opportunities, as well as benefits and rewards to enhance your well-being.
