Position Overview:  


Trio works with some of the world’s largest and leading organisations with over 50 of the Global Fortune 500 and Fortune 500 as our clients. Our Policy team operates as one global team, and as such you will find yourself working on projects alongside US and wider European colleagues. 

The Policy Analyst, Europe assesses the implications of energy and carbon policies in Europe for Trio. This individual will analyse and advise Trio’s clients, prospective clients, and internal teams on the risks and opportunities from upcoming European and national policy changes. The Policy Analyst serves as a cross-functional resource across the company with broad exposure to the business and energy industry. The successful candidate will work on high impact consulting projects for clients’ decarbonization projects. The workload includes researching and assessing subsidies, incentive programs and regulatory obligations. The ideal candidate will be comfortable operating as a generalist with specialization in sustainability and renewable energy.  

Core responsibilities

  • Conducts primary and secondary research on energy policies, subsidies, and market trends in Europe to inform client deliverables.  
  • Monitors and summarises legislation, regulatory proceedings, administrative proceedings and industry trends related to energy and climate policy. 
  • Proactively tracks sustainability regulations in Europe and the UK and supports the Sustainability team with legislative research to inform client deliverables. 
  • Attends meetings with European policy influencers, including trade associations and policy-focused NGOs. 
  • Authors policy-focused publications, including written summaries of legislation, government action, and regulatory changes, white papers, blog posts and marketing pieces. 

Experience and Skills

  • The ideal candidate should preferably at least 1 years’ experience working in a similar role
  • Strong analytic skills and excellent attention to detail.   
  • Ability to communicate with industry players and policymakers. 
  • Ability to prioritize and multi-task on various initiatives while upholding quality and product integrity.   
  • Must be highly motivated and a self-starter focused on delivery. 
  • Must work well in a team environment. 
  • Renewable energy and utility market industry knowledge. 
  • Advanced Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint skills. 
  • 1-5 years experience in the fields of power sector, renewable energy, sustainability, political science, clean tech, environment, economics, business, and/or finance. 
  • Work experience in consultancy / professional services preferred. 
  • Fluency in at least one European language other than English preferred.
