Who are we?

We’re a specialist employee benefits provider, striving to create healthy, happy workplaces. As part of the international Unum Group, we’re on a collective mission to help the working world thrive.

The role

What will you be doing?

Purpose: The PMO Manager is responsible for leading the Project Management Office (PMO), ensuring effective governance, portfolio oversight, reporting, resource management, and delivery assurance across change initiatives. The role provides leadership and support to project and programme teams, establishes standards and controls, and ensures projects are aligned with organisational strategy and governance requirements, using AI and other technologies to develop and support the key accountabilities and deliverables below.

What will you bring?

We’re looking for an experienced PMO Manager to lead and develop our Project Management Office within Core Business Change. This is a high-impact role where you’ll shape how change is governed, reported and delivered across a varied portfolio of initiatives.

You’ll provide the structure, insight and assurance that helps teams deliver confidently — from governance and portfolio reporting through to resource planning, financial oversight, risk management and continuous improvement. You’ll also play a key role in identifying opportunities to use AI, automation and technology to improve capacity, insight and overall impact.

What you’ll be doing
  • Leading and developing PMO frameworks, standards, methodologies and controls.
  • Providing governance, challenge and delivery assurance across projects and programmes.
  • Producing clear portfolio reporting, dashboards and management information for senior stakeholders.
  • Managing portfolio risks, issues, actions, dependencies and decisions, ensuring timely escalation where needed.
  • Supporting resource planning, capacity forecasting, business cases, benefit tracking and financial reporting.
  • Driving continuous improvement across PMO tools, templates, processes and ways of working.
  • Using AI, automation and technology-led solutions to improve efficiency, insight and delivery impact.
  • Leading, coaching and supporting PMO colleagues, project managers and programme managers.
What we’re looking for

You’ll bring significant experience in PMO, portfolio or programme management, with a strong understanding of governance frameworks and delivery controls. You’ll be confident working with senior stakeholders, turning complex delivery data into clear insight, and providing constructive challenge that helps teams stay on track.

We’d love to hear from you if you have experience in:

  • Portfolio reporting, executive dashboards and performance insight.
  • Financial management, forecasting, budgeting and benefits realisation.
  • Risk, issue, dependency and change control management.
  • PMO tools such as Azure DevOps or other portfolio management platforms.
  • Using AI, automation or technology to improve PMO processes and productivity.
  • Leading people, influencing stakeholders and supporting continuous improvement.

In return, you'll benefit from:

  • Competitive salary and generous bonus scheme
  • Healthcare Cash Plan (Level 1 funded)
  • Defined Contribution pension scheme
  • Life assurance, private medical and income protection insurance
  • Access to a remote GP, nutrition coaching, personal training, unlimited mental health support and medical second opinions
  • 27 days annual leave, plus bank holidays, with the option to buy or sell up to 5 additional days
  • Electric vehicle salary sacrifice scheme with on-site charging facilities
  • Free shuttle bus from Dorking train station
  • A supportive culture focused on wellbeing, development and career growth
