About Abound

We’re redefining consumer lending in the UK, and beyond. Using advanced AI and Open Banking data, we make fair, affordable personal finance available to more people. While traditional lenders rely almost entirely on credit scores, we look at the full financial picture - how much you spend, and what you can afford to repay to build a deeper, more accurate understanding of each customer's unique financial situation.

And we've shown it works at scale. We’ve issued over £1.3bn in loans directly to customers while delivering market-leading credit performance - for every 10 defaults the industry expects, we see only 3. We also reached profitability just 2.5 years after launch.

Backed by £2bn+ of funding from top-tier investors including Citi, GSR Ventures, and Deutsche Bank, we’re recognised as one of Europe’s fastest-growing fintechs (Sifted, CNBC). Now, we’re expanding into new markets and product lines - and we’re looking for ambitious people who want to learn fast, take ownership, and grow with us.

About the role

We’re growing fast! We’re a team of around 200 in 4 locations, and we’re looking for someone to help keep our people processes running smoothly as we scale.

You’ll be the go-to person for employee questions and the engine behind our day-to-day People ops, from onboarding and contracts to HRIS data and compliance. You won’t just be running processes, you’ll be building them too, so there’s real ownership and lots of room to make things better. It’s a broad, hands-on role, and it’s perfect for you if you’re organised, curious, and love making things work seamlessly behind the scenes.

What you’ll be doing

  • Admin: Looking after onboarding, offboarding, contracts and changes, probation, and leave and absence across all countries

  • Compliance: Overseeing background screening, and keeping our policies up to date as employment laws change

  • HRIS and data: Keeping HiBob accurate and tidy, and building workflows that cut down on manual admin

  • Payroll: Coordinating compensation and payroll-related administration with the Finance team, including employee query resolution

  • Benefits: Managing enrolment, changes, and employee queries across benefits programmes

  • Employee support: Being the first point of contact for questions on policies, processes, benefits and systems, and knowing when to sort things yourself and when to escalate

  • Employee relations: Supporting employee relations cases from start to finish, including intake, notes and case tracking, with support from the wider People team and Legal

  • Self-serve and AI: Helping us build our People knowledge base in Confluence from the ground up so everyone can find answers fast, and exploring smart ways to use AI and automation to take the busywork out of People ops

  • Projects: Getting stuck into People initiatives as we grow, from performance and engagement cycles in Culture Amp to policy rollouts and process improvements

What you’ll need

  • 2–4 years in People Ops, HR Ops or an HR Generalist role, ideally in fintech or somewhere fast-growing

  • Good working knowledge of UK employment law

  • Hands-on experience across the full employee lifecycle

  • Exposure to employee relations, such as supporting cases, taking notes or tracking issues through to resolution

  • Experience with a multi-country team, or the ability to pick up local nuances quickly and work across time zones

  • Experience using an HRIS (bonus points for HiBob), and you’re comfortable with Excel

  • A real eye for detail and the organisation to juggle lots of requests without dropping the ball

  • Discretion and good judgement with confidential info and sensitive situations

  • Clear, friendly communication with everyone from new joiners to senior leaders

  • A helpful, reliable approach, and a habit of always looking for a better way to do things

  • Comfort with pace and a bit of ambiguity, because lots of our processes are still being built

What we offer

  • Everyone owns a piece of the company - equity

  • Hybrid with 3 days a week in the office

  • 25 days’ holiday a year, plus 8 bank holidays

  • 2 paid volunteering days per year

  • One month paid sabbatical after 4 years

  • Employee loan

  • Free gym membership

  • Team wellness budget to be active together - set up a yoga class, a tennis lesson or go bouldering
