We’re looking for a People Operations Lead to join our People function, partnering closely with the CEO to deliver People initiatives. You’ll be responsible for both strategic planning and hands-on delivery.

This is an end-to-end People role, working alongside our Talent Lead, who looks after recruitment. We’re looking for a ‘do-er’; someone who is excited by sitting down with leaders across the business, and then getting into the nuts and bolts of putting changes in place.

Day to day, you’ll work across two key pillars:

People Partnering and Engagement

  • Being a trusted advisor to managers and leaders: providing hands-on support and coaching through team challenges, change, and key people decisions
  • Developing Manager Training and identifying areas where we can improve the quality of employee engagement
  • Supporting with sensitive or complex people issues
  • Owning and continuously improving our twice-yearly performance development cycle, ensuring it supports growth, feedback, and clarity
  • Championing culture, and identifying how we can strengthen our employee value proposition

People Operations

  • Day-to-day delivery of people operations across the People lifecycle, including maximising how we use systems (HiBob and Google tools) to streamline workflows, caring about both efficiency and the employee experience
  • Taking the lead on people risk, by helping us to spot issues before they become problems

Ideal candidates will have

  • Experience with employee relations, comfortable with UK employment law
  • Experience working end-to-end across the People lifecycle, with the ability to move comfortably between high-level strategy (e.g. building roadmaps and presenting your focus areas) and practical delivery

Nice to have

  • Experience in a scale-up environment, where things move quickly and we try to remove unnecessary administration and barriers to making decisions

Success looks like this at Octopus Money

  • You can handle ambiguity. You’re comfortable using judgement to create structure and applying first principle thinking
  • You’re someone who ‘chases the ball’, rather than just hoping others pick it up. We look for determination, resilience and a healthy dose of optimism
  • You thrive in a fast paced environment. You’re open to course correct when needed, and challenge yourself and others to

About Octopus Money

🐙 We’re on a mission to become the most recommended financial services business in the UK 🐙

Money shapes every part of life. Yet most people never get the support they need:

  • Half of Brits reach retirement age without enough to live the life they want
  • Financial stress is a leading cause of poor mental health
  • Only 8% of people have access to 1-to-1 financial advice

There’s no shortage of information. What people actually need is clarity, guidance and a plan that makes sense for them.

That’s where we come in.

Octopus Money brings together financial planning, investment expertise and smart technology so people can understand their options and take action with confidence. We help people build a clear plan for their savings, investments and pensions and make investing simple with managed portfolios built by experts. We also support employers who want their teams to feel more secure and in control.

Some people need regulated advice. Others need coaching. Many need both at different points in life. Our service adapts to what each person needs.

We believe everyone deserves money support that works for real life.

We value people who:

Make every conversation matter
You care about how you make people feel. You communicate clearly, listen well and build trust with customers and colleagues. You want every interaction to move things forward.

Move with urgency and focus
You like getting stuck in. You care about making progress, not perfection. You stay focused on what matters, learn quickly and find smart ways to keep things moving.

Own it
You take responsibility for your work and the outcomes it creates. You’re comfortable solving problems, making decisions and tackling challenges head on. You hold yourself to a high standard and want to make a real impact.

The interview process

Our interview process typically includes:

  • An intro call with our talent team
  • A competency-based interview with the hiring manager
  • A panel interview with a short task presentation
  • A conversation focused on how you work and what you value

We’ll keep it simple and respectful of your time, and you’ll meet the people you’ll actually work with. Our average process takes around four weeks but we’ll always work around your availability.

What’s in it for you

Base salary: £80,000 (depending on experience) + bonus + benefits

We want people to grow here, to feel supported and to feel proud of the impact they make!

You’ll get:

  • Hybrid working with 3 days in the office each week (Tuesday - Thursday)
  • 18 days a year working from anywhere
  • Performance-based bonus
  • The opportunity to participate in our Share Incentive Plan (HMRC approved scheme enabling employees to invest tax efficiently)
  • Company pension
  • Private medical insurance
  • Enhanced parental leave and Return to Work coaching (find out more on our website)
  • Birthday day off
  • A mission driven focus - the chance to help people improve their lives through financial wellbeing, and a supportive team who care about what they do
