Lead People, Talent, and People Ops to raise talent density, architect organisation design, embed AI-first ways of working, build employer brand, and steward company culture while reporting to the CEO and sitting on the Leadership Team.

We’re Capital on Tap 👋
💳 Capital on Tap started because small businesses were underserved. Big banks were slow, their products weren't fit for purpose, and small business owners often couldn't access what they needed. We set out to fix that.

Today we're a financial platform - not just a credit card company. We offer a best-in-class business credit card, SME-focused spend management platform, a savings product that hit £1 billion in funds within its first year, and a growing suite of tools and financial products that make running a small business easier.

1,000+ employees, £20bn in annual card spend, 200,000+ customers, 17,000+ Trustpilot reviews averaging 4.7 stars, and we're profitable. We’ve done a pretty good job so far, but we’re just getting started!

Why Join Us?

We empower you to be innovative and solve complex problems. This is a leadership role where you will have immediate ability (and expectation) to take ownership and make an impact.

🏡🏢This role is based in our Moorgate (London) office. You will be in the office at least 3 days per week, preferably 4, and will need to occasionally travel to our offices across Brighton, Cardiff, and Manchester.

People at Capital on Tap

The People function at Capital on Tap covers People, Talent, and People Ops, and this role reports directly to our CEO. It sits at the heart of our biggest bet: that talent density and an AI-first operating model are what take us from 200,000 customers to 1 million. Your job is to raise the talent level across the business, build the capability to consistently attract and land exceptional people, and help lead our shift to an AI-first organisation.

What You’ll Be Doing

Your mandate is talent density, organisational design, and shaping our unique culture as we shift to an AI-first operating model. You will report directly to our CEO, sit on the Leadership Team, and lead the People, Talent, and People Ops teams. What you will be owning:

  • Talent Density: leading our company efforts to attract and land top-tier talent, building our employer brand, driving exceptional performance across teams, and ensuring we have A-players across all of our key roles.
  • Accelerating AI: helping drive our organisational efforts to embed AI systems and tools across every team in our business.
  • Driving excellence in your teams: building and driving our People, Talent, and People Ops teams to build the most talent dense business in the UK.
  • Organisational Design: architecting our people structure and team design around business outcomes in an AI first world.
  • Culture & Values: stewardship of our company culture and values, ensuring they remain the bedrock of the organisation as we scale and evolve with new technology.

What We’re Looking For 🔎

  • Leadership experience at fast-growing and scaled businesses, with experience running a People/HR function or having it report into you.
  • A proven track record of raising talent density: attracting exceptional people, stretching high performers, and exiting underperformers quickly.
  • Strong commercial acumen, someone who runs People like a business function.
  • A strong point of view on how to maintain a high-performance culture and strong values in an AI-first organisation.
  • Some experience outside of the People function, whether operational, commercial, or general management is a bonus.

Diversity & Inclusion 🌈

We welcome, consider and encourage applications from anyone who shares our commitment to inclusivity. Join us in creating a space where authenticity thrives, and everyone can do their best work.

We try not to take ourselves too seriously (all the time) so we make sure our office is decked out with a pool table, arcade machine, beer tap, and a couple of office dogs thrown in for good measure.

What you need to know about the London Tech Scene

London isn't just a hub for established businesses; it's also a nursery for innovation. Boasting one of the most recognized fintech ecosystems in Europe, attracting billions in investments each year, London's success has made it a go-to destination for startups looking to make their mark. Top U.K. companies like Hoptin, Moneybox and Marshmallow have already made the city their base — yet fintech is just the beginning. From healthtech to renewable energy to cybersecurity and beyond, the city's startups are breaking new ground across a range of industries.
