Role Summary

Project Consultants are at the core of the technical pensions project work which Data Services carry out. We are a small highly experienced team within the Retirement Solutions business area. Our Project Consultants carry out a wide variety of pension related tasks, often our work involves rectifying data which is incorrect or requires amending due to legislation or court cases. Much of our work has been in connection with either the Barber ruling, the Lloyds case or the McCloud ruling. Project Consultants assist with developing bespoke solutions to issues to be addressed by the project and will assist with identifying cohorts and process many of the cases identified.

  • Pension rectification project work – often complex and / or technical
  • Identify gaps in processes and suggest solutions
  • Be able to innovate to improve unit times or accuracy either by new solutions or building on existing solutions
  • Perform project management roles including designing and maintaining project plans and risk logs and interacting with external clients
  • Performance management
  • Completing quotes, claims and servicing and discontinuance work
  • Demonstrate commercial awareness including ability to record chargeable time professionally and prudently on individual contracts
  • Prioritising and organising own workload to ensure that deadlines are met and standards of delivery maintained including indicating when new work or assistance is required
  • Provide ongoing training and coaching to colleagues
  • Provide support to Project Leads / Project team / Managers

Skills, Capabilities and Attributes

The successful candidate will demonstrate the following experience, skills and behaviours:

  • Broad based Defined Benefit pension experience and knowledge
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Able to multi task – able to work under pressure and under own initiative
  • Self motivated and ability to encourage others
  • Well developed systems proficiency, particularly in Excel and Word including mail merge, basic Access proficiency would be an advantage
  • Ability to handle and analyse complex and high volumes of data
  • Must be flexible and proactive
  • Able to work to laid down processes and procedures
