Make Payroll Matter Across Europe

At Hansen, payroll is more than a monthly process. It's a critical function that ensures our people are paid accurately, compliantly, and on time across multiple countries and jurisdictions.

We're looking for a detail-oriented, proactive Payroll Officer to take ownership of payroll operations across the UK, Republic of Ireland, Switzerland and the Netherlands. This is an opportunity to join a global organisation where you'll play a key role in supporting employees across EMEA while helping drive improvements in payroll processes, compliance and reporting.

Why Hansen?

Hansen is a global software and services provider serving the energy, utilities, water and communications sectors. Our solutions help organisations in more than 80 countries manage complex billing, customer care, energy trading and revenue management processes.

As our business continues to evolve globally, we're building a payroll function that delivers accuracy, efficiency and exceptional employee experience across multiple regions. This role will be at the heart of that journey.

What You'll Be Responsible For

You'll take ownership of end-to-end payroll activities for multiple European entities, ensuring payroll is delivered accurately, compliantly and on schedule. Responsibilities will include:

  • Managing payroll processing across the UK, ROI, Switzerland and the Netherlands.
  • Coordinating joiners, leavers, salary changes, deductions, pensions and benefits updates.
  • Ensuring payroll data is accurate across HR, payroll and timekeeping systems.
  • Resolving payroll queries and discrepancies with speed and professionalism.
  • Preparing payroll submissions, approvals and statutory reporting requirements.
  • Supporting month-end payroll analysis alongside Finance.
  • Partnering with HR, Finance and external payroll providers to deliver a seamless employee experience.
  • Contributing to payroll process improvements, standardisation initiatives and global payroll best practices.
  • Producing payroll reporting, metrics and management information to support business decision-making.
What Success Looks Like

You'll thrive in this role if you:

  • Take genuine ownership and accountability for payroll delivery.
  • Enjoy identifying and resolving issues before they become problems.
  • Balance meticulous attention to detail with the ability to work at pace.
  • Build strong relationships across Finance, HR and external partners.
  • Are comfortable operating in a multinational environment with multiple stakeholders and varying regulatory requirements.
  • Continuously look for ways to improve processes, controls and service delivery.
What You'll Bring

We're looking for someone who combines payroll expertise with a customer-focused mindset.

You'll ideally have:

  • At least 2 years' payroll experience, preferably within an in-house environment.
  • Experience supporting both UK and European payrolls.
  • Strong knowledge of payroll legislation, taxation, pensions and payroll compliance requirements.
  • Advanced Excel capability, including functions such as Pivot Tables, XLOOKUP, SUMIFS and related analysis tools.
  • Experience working within an international or multi-country organisation.
  • Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage competing deadlines.
  • High levels of discretion when handling confidential employee information.
  • Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach to problem solving.
