Here at Howdens we're looking for a Payroll Administrator with Workday experience to join our Payroll team and help ensure our employees are paid accurately, on time, and in line with current legislation. Based within a busy and supportive payroll function, you'll play a key role in processing payroll transactions, resolving queries, and maintaining the high standards of service our colleagues across the business rely upon.
This is an initial 6 month fixed term contract.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with Workday payroll administration experience who enjoys working with data, thrives on accuracy, and takes pride in delivering a first-class service.
What will I be doing?
- Processing payroll changes including starters, leavers, salary amendments, allowances and deductions within Workday.
- Administering statutory payments and deductions, including SSP, SMP, PAYE and National Insurance.
- Processing tax code changes and relevant payroll documentation.
- Generating, checking and processing weekly timesheets.
- Performing payroll audits and checks to ensure payroll data is accurate and compliant.
- Supporting payroll year-end activities and assisting with audit requirements when required.
- Investigating and resolving payroll queries from employees and stakeholders across the business.
- Identifying and resolving issues that could impact the accurate and timely delivery of payroll.
- Working closely with colleagues across Payroll, HR and the wider business to provide an excellent customer experience.
- Keeping up to date with payroll legislation and best practice.
What do we need from you?
- Previous payroll administration and processing experience within Workday is essential.
- Good understanding of payroll procedures and HMRC legislation.
- Strong attention to detail with a commitment to accuracy.
- Excellent organisational and prioritisation skills.
- Confident using Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to build effective working relationships at all levels.
- A proactive approach to problem solving and continuous improvement.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines.
- A positive, flexible and team-focused attitude.
- Experience working in a retail, manufacturing or similar fast-paced environment would be desirable.
