Operations Strategy Manager - New verticals

Join us in our mission to transform the way people shop and eat, where impact, innovation, and growth drives everything we do. Our Commercial team sits at the centre of Deliveroo’s marketplace—shaping how we serve restaurants, grocers, and new verticals worldwide. From negotiating key partnerships to unlocking new revenue streams and crafting data-led growth strategies, we take on big challenges that move the business forward. If you thrive in fast-paced, commercial environments and want to influence the future of a global brand—this is the team for you.

We’re looking for an Operations Strategy Manager - New verticals to join our London team. In this role, you’ll help us develop and scale strategic initiatives that drive operational excellence, ensuring we maximise business profitability while delivering the best possible experience to our customers.

Get to know our Operations team — what drives us, how we work, and what you can expect.

What You’ll Be Doing

You’ll be joining the Quality and Cost team within the New Verticals Strategy & Operations function. We are responsible for the strategy that drives service quality and cost-control, balancing high-impact strategic problem-solving with the real-world execution of our ideas.

Here’s what your day-to-day might look like:

  • Lead Strategic Initiatives: Design and implement operational frameworks that improve quality metrics and cost efficiency across our grocery and retail segments.

  • Drive Product Go-To-Market: Lead the execution of go-to-market processes for new partner product features, ensuring smooth launches and scalable adoption.

  • Performance Management: Own the target-setting and OKR process for New Verticals, providing regular performance reporting through weekly and monthly business reviews.

  • Operational Problem Solving: Conduct deep-dive analyses to identify why KPIs might be off-track and pull the necessary levers to bring performance back to standard.

  • Standardise Excellence: Develop scalable Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), training programmes, and tools that enable local teams to execute the central strategy effectively.

What You’ll Need to Thrive

Essential

  • Operational Excellence: Significant experience (3+ years) in a grocery or retail environment with a focus on driving operational improvement plans.

  • Analytical Rigour: A strong quantitative toolkit (Excel) and the ability to conduct 80/20 analysis to draw out actionable insights from complex data.

  • Influential Communication: Proven ability to persuade senior stakeholders and galvanise action across cross-functional teams like Commercial, Product, and Legal.

  • Strategic Execution: A unique blend of high-level strategic thinking and a "roll-up-your-sleeves" approach to on-the-ground operational implementation.

  • Decisiveness: Comfort making fast, data-informed decisions in ambiguous, fast-paced environments.

Nice to Have

  • A mix of site-level operations and central strategy implementation experience.

  • Experience driving strategic priorities across global, remote teams.
