Lead underwriting transformation projects, act as product owner for underwriting systems, standardize processes, drive automation and digital initiatives, manage stakeholders and vendors, analyse data to build strategies and business cases, and present recommendations to senior committees.
We are working with a Lloyd's managing agent to find an Operational Excellence Lead for their Underwriting function. This role drives consistency, efficiency and innovation across the Underwriting Teams, leading digital transformation and data-first initiatives in partnership with stakeholders across the business.
It's a strong fit for someone who enjoys modernising systems and processes, and who's comfortable working across a broad internal and external stakeholder base to keep Underwriting ahead of the curve. Please note the role carries no authority to underwrite or settle claims.
Responsibilities
- Lead key projects and workstreams supporting the business's wider Underwriting transformation and straight-through processing agenda, delivering scalable, efficient and automated systems and processes
- Act as product owner for Underwriting systems and processes, working closely with IT to understand, maintain and continuously improve how the Underwriting Teams operate across the full underwriting journey
- Drive consistency across Underwriting Teams, ensuring processes and workflows are applied in a standardised way
- Track developments in Insurance technology and products to help shape and evolve the Underwriting operating model
- Build and maintain relationships with external system, product and service providers, with the ability to influence their roadmaps and future development
- Contribute to and deliver workstreams within internal change and innovation forums spanning digital strategy, underwriting transformation and technology
- Manage multiple concurrent projects and workstreams in line with the business's change management framework, working closely with the Change team
- Analyse complex data and information to produce strategies, business cases and supporting documentation, including process maps
- Present findings and recommendations effectively to senior stakeholders and committees
Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years' Lloyd's market experience
- Experience managing Underwriting-related projects
- Excellent IT skills, including Microsoft Visio
- Strong stakeholder and relationship management skills, internal and external
- Confident analysing and interpreting complex data to support strategy and business case development
- Well organised, able to prioritise and coordinate multiple work-streams concurrently
- Clear, confident communicator, comfortable presenting to senior stakeholders and committees
