The GSMA runs a highly successful series of Events as well as a burgeoning Media, Data Intelligence, Services and Membership business. We have identified a number of areas where we see future growth within our Events platform and are looking for a highly commercial, sales focused individual to start mining those opportunities.

About the Team

This role sits within the highly successful global sales team, reporting into the VP of Sales. You will have access to, and be able to utilize the connections and relationships made by not only the sales team, but more importantly the wider Association from their lobbying, technology and promotional work.

GSMA’s influence within the connectivity industry is far reaching providing you with a platform from which you can start sourcing new clients for the Events business. The core to our success is teamwork, leveraging the expertise of the wider team, we work in a cross functional, matrix environment.

About the Role

This is a senior sales role requiring someone with excellent sales experience and commercial awareness. A hunter style selling skill set is a must. You need to have the ability to utilise your sales knowledge to mine for new clients within a given sector.

With the ability to map out a client you are skilled at identifying the buyers within a new vertical. Utilising your excellent communication skills you will be able to quantify an opportunity, clearly explain the benefits and ROI to a new client, and move them through the sales process to contract signature.

This is a consultative sales role that involves understanding unique customer needs and delivering tailored solutions - you need to be creative in your proposals and match client needs with our solutions.

Deals are expected to be complex, high value and far reaching, and include multiple elements to create a comprehensive package. With a support team in place to handover to, you will not be held back by admin or post sale account management, freeing you up to move onto the next sale and new client and opportunity.

About You

  • Extensive experience as a sales professional with some people management

  • A self-starter who thrives on developing new business, creating opportunities, and delivering measurable results

  • Knowledge of the connectivity and telco industry, or can demonstrate the ability to quickly develop a depth of industry knowledge

  • Experience selling events, although will also consider sales professionals from the media or technical sales professions

  • A strong commercial background with a history of reaching and exceeding sales targets

  • Able to create and write complex sales proposals fully harnessing the breadth of an opportunity

  • An autonomous approach to working and a self-starter attitude

  • Strong communication, interpersonal and presentation skills

  • Computer literate with ideally knowledge of Salesforce, LinkedIn and Sales Navigator
