The Role

We’re looking for an experienced Network Engineer to join Leidos UK’s internal Network Engineering team, which can be based from either our Whiteley, Glasgow or Farnborough UK Offices, on a hyrbrid working basis with a requirement only to be in office around business needs.

This is a great opportunity for a mid-senior level engineer with strong enterprise networking experience who enjoys a mix of operational support, technical improvement, and project delivery. You’ll play a key role in maintaining and evolving a secure, business-critical network environment across both on-premise and cloud-based infrastructure.

What you’ll be doing

  • Supporting and maintaining enterprise network infrastructure across on-prem and cloud environments
  • Monitoring performance, investigating issues, and resolving network incidents
  • Implementing network changes in line with agreed processes and standards
  • Supporting the ongoing management of network security and vulnerability remediation across network devices
  • Configuring, managing and troubleshooting firewalls and authentication services, including Palo Alto
  • Contributing to the delivery and improvement of core network services such as LAN, WAN, WLAN, SD-WAN, NAC and IPAM
  • Supporting UK-wide infrastructure projects and working closely with other technical teams
  • Helping to identify opportunities for service improvement, resilience and standardisation

What we’re looking for

We’d like to hear from candidates who bring solid hands-on network engineering experience, ideally in a complex enterprise environment, including:

  • Strong experience in routing and switching, including Layer 2/3 troubleshooting
  • Good knowledge of core networking protocols such as BGP, EIGRP, VRF and IPSEC
  • Experience configuring and supporting Palo Alto firewalls
  • A strong understanding of Cisco enterprise LAN/WAN environments
  • Experience implementing and supporting both physical and virtual networking solutions
  • Confidence planning and delivering technical changes, with clear communication to stakeholders and wider teams
  • A proactive, methodical approach to problem solving
  • Strong communication and organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities

Desirable

It would be beneficial if you also have experience with any of the following:

  • SD-WAN
  • Network Access Control (NAC)
  • Wireless networking
  • Load balancing / Global Server Load Balancing
  • NSX, VXLAN or virtual firewall technologies
  • TACACS, MFA or PKI
  • Network automation
  • Working in secure or accredited environments
  • ITIL-based service delivery in critical infrastructure environments

Why join us?

This role offers the chance to work on a varied and technically interesting network estate, with opportunities to contribute to both operational excellence and longer-term improvement work. You’ll join a collaborative team environment where your experience will be valued and where there is scope to keep developing your skills.
