How you will contribute and key responsibilities:
As a Mobile Platform Tech Lead, your key responsibility will be to own and strengthen the technical foundations of our mobile banking app, ensuring it remains secure, performant, reliable, and scalable as our customer and product needs evolve. You will lead a small mobile platform team and work closely with engineering, product, design, and compliance stakeholders to maintain high technical standards across our React Native estate and associated native integrations. Other responsibilities include:
- Lead and mentor the mobile platform team, providing technical guidance, coaching, and clear prioritisation across platform initiatives.
- Define, implement, and uphold engineering standards across mobile security, observability, performance, resilience, and release quality.
- Act as a hands on technical leader in the development and maintenance of shared mobile platform capabilities within React Native and TypeScript.
- Contribute to architectural decisions relating to React Native, native modules, and integrations across Kotlin, Swift, Objective C, and Java.
- Partner with product feature teams to ensure releases are delivered smoothly, meet quality expectations, and align with regulatory and compliance requirements.
- Drive improvements in automated testing practices, including unit, integration, and end to end testing approaches that improve confidence in release quality.
- Enhance mobile engineering workflows through improvements to continuous integration, continuous delivery, build reliability, and deployment processes.
- Own and coordinate production incident management and release activities, ensuring timely resolution, effective communication, and strong operational control.
- Collaborate with design and product teams to evolve and maintain shared UI components, platform standards, and mobile design system capabilities.
- Oversee the implementation and continual improvement of mobile observability tooling, analytics, logging, and exception monitoring to support stability and insight driven decision making.
- Promote secure application development practices and support compliance aligned delivery within a regulated banking environment.
- Identify and drive opportunities to improve platform stability, developer productivity, and the long term maintainability of the mobile application estate.
Requirements
Qualifications
- Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Ongoing professional development in mobile engineering, software architecture, or secure development.
- Good understanding of engineering standards in regulated or high compliance environments.
- Ability to operate at Tech Lead level with responsibility for technical direction and team support.
Experience and skills requirements
- Strong experience building production mobile apps using React Native and TypeScript.
- Good knowledge of native mobile development using Kotlin, Swift, Objective C, or Java.
- Experience leading or mentoring engineers in a mobile or platform team.
- Experience owning app security, performance, reliability, observability, and release quality.
- Experience managing releases across multiple teams with responsibility for stability and uptime.
- Good understanding of automated testing for mobile applications.
- Experience working in regulated sectors such as banking, fintech, or health.
- Good knowledge of secure application development and compliance requirements.
- Experience contributing to mobile architecture and shared platform components.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work closely with product, design, engineering, and compliance teams.
- Experience improving CI/CD pipelines, release processes, and developer workflows.
- Pragmatic approach to balancing security, compliance, and delivery needs.

Hybrid Working:
