Next Generation Spectacles are our first pair of glasses that bring augmented reality to life. 

We're looking for a supplier development engineer for metals piece-part fabrication and precision machining techniques to join us making Augmented Reality products in Spectacles.

What you’ll do:

  • Develop and oversee the implementation of machining processes for plastics, metals, glass and other materials.

  • Ensure high-quality machining components that meet Snap's stringent standards for functional and durability.

  • Innovate and explore new machining technologies and techniques to provide Snap products with unique and superior quality.

  • Drive DFM/DFA feedback for machining processes to address cosmetic and functional yield and cost targets. 

  • Work with PD, ID, and SQE teams to drive material for sample reviews, in order to align on targets or specs with other cross-functional teams.

  • Conduct regular audits and assessments of supplier capabilities and performance.

  • Provide technical guidance and support to internal teams on machining feasibility. 

  • Stay current with industry trends and advancements in novel materials and in new manufacturing processes.

  • Expected travel 25-50% to Mainland China, Taiwan, and other Asia-region countries and occasional travel to the US.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Deep understanding of the machining process for plastics, metals, and glass materials.

  • Familiarity with various machining techniques and their impact on final quality.

  • Extensive experience and knowledge of CNC machine operation and optimization.

  • Ability to identify root causes and implement effective corrective actions.

  • Excellent project management skills, managing multiple projects and deadlines.

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Effective communication skills to work with cross-functional teams.

  • Ability to convey technical information clearly and concisely.

  • Passion for innovation and continuous improvement in surface finishing techniques.

  • Ability to stay updated with industry trends and implement cutting-edge technologies.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.

  • 7+ years interfacing with 3 and 5 axis machining experience. 

  • Proficiency with CAD / CAM, tool selection, and fixture design.

  • Ability to design manufacturing processes from concept to implementation.

  • Hands on experience with application of GD&T.

  • Proven track record of creating and managing deep supplier relationships.

  • Experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, preferably in the consumer electronics or technology industry.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree in  Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering, or related field.

  • Deep knowledge of GD&T

  • 10+ years process development experience in high volume consumer products.

  • Excellent problem solver with a foundation in Six Sigma

  • Proficient in written and verbal communication in both Mandarin and English
