We are looking for a lead mechanical engineer to work within our systems engineering organisation based in Glasgow or Rugby. - Provide mechanical engineering support to contract manufacturing partners during the build of power electronics, switchboards, and electrical distribution equipment.
- Act as the main technical point of contact for mechanical engineering topics during manufacturing and project execution.
- Respond to technical queries, support production schedules, and help resolve manufacturing and quality issues.
- Contribute to the mechanical design and documentation of new and existing products as part of a project delivery team.
- Collaborate with supplier quality teams to support capability assessments of new manufacturing suppliers.
- Work with product and project managers to align engineering priorities, costs, and manufacturing schedules.
- Support test planning, routine testing, and customer factory acceptance testing.
- Create and maintain 3D models and 2D technical drawings using CAD tools.
- Create and manage parts and bills of materials within the PLM system.
- Travel within the UK and internationally as required to support suppliers, manufacturing activities, and project needs.
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent qualification, or relevant practical experience in a mechanical engineering environment.
- Experience in mechanical engineering for manufacturing, product support, or product development.
- Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, sheet metal design, welding, coating technologies, electro-mechanical assembly, design for manufacture and assembly, and material selection.
- Ability to interpret electrical schematics.
- Good communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Sole UK nationality and current eligibility for UK Security Clearance at SC level.
- Experience in a project engineering or technical lead role.
- Proficiency in PTC Creo or similar 3D CAD software.
- Experience using Siemens Teamcenter or similar PLM tools for parts and bill of materials management.
- Experience in industrial equipment, electrical equipment, or defense-related engineering environments.
- Previous experience supporting UK naval engineering projects.
- This role is open only to sole UK Nationals.
- Candidates must hold, or be eligible to obtain, UK Security Clearance at SC level.
