The Mechanical Design Engineer position will play a key role within MAA developing, designing, and implementing advanced robotic systems for automation. This position involves supporting the full design process, from conceptualisation to prototyping, testing, and final integration, while ensuring the systems meet performance, safety, and cost-effectiveness standards. The role requires strong problem-solving skills, up-to-date knowledge of automation technologies, and a strategic mindset to anticipate industry trends and contribute to the continuous improvement of robotic systems. As a Design Engineer, you must also stay abreast of emerging innovations machine vision, and autonomous systems to drive next-generation automation solutions.

The role involves but is not limited to:-
- Be responsible for the design phase of multiple body in white (BiW) projects, focusing on the assembly tooling, equipment layouts, sequencing, GD&T and operator ergonomics
- Collaborate with the wider team to innovate and streamline the process for automated assembly lines, enhancing efficiency and reducing capital investment.
- Interpret customer requirements and develop concept designs into a robust assembly solution
- Support third-party design resources, to ensure adherence to the project's initial scope to maintain design integrity and project vision.
- Utilize design software to accelerate and develop process (Autodesk Inventor)
- Apply Design for Manufacture (DFM) principles to simplify the product structure, reducing the number of components and assembly operations required, thereby enhancing the manufacturing process.
- Contribute actively to regular internal and external design reviews, ensuring all design elements are thoroughly evaluated and addressed.
- Adhere to all engineering changes processes and manage their implementation from start to finish
- Maintain a continuous improvement mindset, seeking out the latest advancements in assembly automation and integrating them into the design process to stay ahead in the competitive automotive industry.

- Engineering background
