Job Description:

The Mars Statutory Transformation Europe Lead is responsible for leading statutory financial reporting, local regulatory compliance, and statutory reporting requirements across European countries as part of a global SAP S/4HANA transformation program. The role serves as the primary Finance and Controllership SME for European statutory reporting requirements, ensuring local GAAP, IFRS, financial statement, disclosure, and regulatory reporting obligations are incorporated into the SAP S/4HANA global template. The individual partners with Corporate Finance, Regional Controllers, Tax, IT, Shared Services, and System Integrators to design, test, and deploy compliant statutory reporting processes and technologies (e.g. SAP DRC reporting or other statutory reporting solutions).

What are we Looking For?

  • 8+ years of experience in statutory financial reporting, controllership, external reporting, or financial accounting.
  • Strong knowledge of European statutory reporting obligations and local GAAP requirements.
  • Deep understanding of IFRS reporting and European regulatory reporting requirements.
  • Experience supporting SAP ECC and SAP S/4HANA Finance transformations.
  • Experience with statutory reporting technologies such as SAP DRC, ONESOURCE Statutory Reporting, Workiva, CCH Tagetik, BlackLine, or similar solutions.
  • Strong understanding of Record-to-Report (R2R), financial close, consolidation, and external reporting processes.
  • Experience with SAP S/4HANA Universal Journal, parallel ledgers, financial statement versions, and reporting architecture.
  • Experience with Statutory Fixed Asset requirements in SAP
  • Proven experience defining statutory reporting requirements and leading testing and deployment activities.
  • Experience supporting multi-country European deployments within a global template model.
  • Strong stakeholder management and collaboration skills across Finance, Controllership, Tax, IT, Shared Services, and external auditors.
  • Experience managing compliance risks, governance processes, and complex transformation programs.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline.
  • CPA, ACA, ACCA, CA, or equivalent accounting qualification preferred.

What are the Key Responsibilities?

 

  • Lead the Europe statutory reporting workstream for SAP S/4HANA design, build, testing, and deployment.
  • Serve as the primary SME for statutory financial reporting requirements across European jurisdictions.
  • Define and validate local GAAP, IFRS, statutory financial statement, and regulatory reporting requirements.
  • Ensure European statutory requirements are incorporated into the global S/4HANA template while balancing standardization and localization.
  • Partner with Controllership, Record-to-Report (R2R), Tax, Consolidation, and Finance teams to align reporting requirements.
  • Define statutory reporting requirements related to legal entities, ledgers, charts of accounts, account mappings, and financial statement hierarchies.
  • Lead requirements and design reviews for SAP DRC, ONESOURCE Statutory Reporting, and other statutory compliance reporting technologies.
  • Support finance design decisions involving parallel accounting, local GAAP adjustments, statutory journals, and reporting structures.
  • Establish statutory reporting governance, controls, and compliance monitoring procedures.
  • Assess the impact of new accounting and regulatory requirements on SAP processes and reporting solutions.
  • Lead statutory reporting testing, defect management, business validation, and sign-off activities.
  • Support deployment readiness, cutover planning, hypercare, and stabilization activities.
  • Collaborate with country finance teams to ensure local compliance requirements are fully addressed.
  • Preferred SAP S/4HANA Transformation Experience:
    • Led statutory reporting workstreams for European SAP S/4HANA deployments.
    • Defined reporting requirements across key European jurisdictions including EU and non-EU markets.
    • Designed statutory reporting solutions leveraging SAP S/4HANA Universal Journal and parallel ledger capabilities.
    • Implemented SAP DRC, ONESOURCE Statutory Reporting, or similar regulatory reporting solutions.
    • Defined requirements for local statutory financial statements, disclosures, and regulatory filings.
    • Led statutory UAT, defect management, cutover, deployment readiness, and hypercare activities.
    • Supported global template governance while ensuring country-specific statutory compliance.
    • Collaborated with Finance GPOs, Regional Controllers, Tax, and System Integrators throughout the program lifecycle.
    • Supported audit readiness and external audit requirements during deployment and post-go-live operations.

Key Deliverables

  • Approved European statutory reporting requirements and design decisions.
  • Country statutory reporting requirement inventories and localization assessments.
  • Local GAAP and IFRS reporting requirements documented and incorporated into solution design.
  • SAP DRC, ONESOURCE Statutory Reporting, or equivalent compliance solution requirements and deployment sign-off.
  • Financial statement hierarchy, disclosure, and account mapping requirements.
  • Statutory reporting process flows, operating procedures, and governance documentation.
  • Statutory controls framework and compliance monitoring processes.
  • User Acceptance Testing (UAT) plans, scripts, execution results, and defect resolution tracking.
  • Country-specific statutory reporting readiness assessments.
  • Executive reporting on statutory reporting readiness, compliance risks, and key decisions.
  • Go-live readiness and post-production support plans.
  • Knowledge transfer materials and operational support documentation.
