About the role:

We’re seeking an experienced UK Marketing & PR Manager to help elevate our brand’s presence with compelling communications, brand marketing, event marketing, and out-of-the-box PR initiatives.

As the UK Marketing & PR Manager, you'll be the driving force behind Whalar agency’s voice in the market. Your role is pivotal in crafting and executing strategic marketing initiatives that don’t just enhance our visibility—they make us unforgettable. This role requires a blend of creativity, strategic thinking, and excellent communication skills to manage brand marketing, events, public relations, and additional communications needs. 

Here’s what you’ll do day to day:

  • Work continuously on plans to build, strengthen, and sustain the brand and reputation of Whalar externally across the UK.
  • Support in all thought leadership development for industry conferences and events to showcase leaders on stage and in editorial content. 
  • Identify marketing opportunities for Whalar to raise awareness and drive UK activations, webinars, sponsorships, and partnerships.
  • Work with client services to develop platform partnership marketing opportunities (TikTok, Snap, Meta, YouTube, LinkedIn).
  • Develop marketing assets and materials (with the support of the production team), that tell the Whalar story and offering.
  • Develops email marketing plans, manages subscriber lists, and handles distribution.
  • Identify leading Whalar campaigns and create written case studies, and brief designers for assets and films.
  • Manage vendors, agency subscriptions, translations, and invoices on behalf of PR and Marketing activations for Whalar. 
  • Continue to build meaningful relationships with relevant regional and local media targets to ensure Whalar UK ethos and approach to work are at the top of mind – ensuring fresh work and thinking are shared regularly.
  • Build and maintain relationships with UK journalists, influencers/Creators, and media representatives.
  • Manage and craft industry PR needs for Whalar clients and brand platform partners. 
  • Track editorial calendars, press coverage, stay on top of cultural trends, and track other opportune moments to identify and pitch meaningful stories.
  • Assist in drafting and distributing press releases, interview briefing documents, media kits, op-eds, and other materials to relevant media outlets.
  • Assist in managing media inquiries and coordinating interviews and press conferences on behalf of Whalar UK.
  • Monitor media coverage and prepare reports on PR activities and effectiveness.
  • Manage and lead all events for the UK, including campaign launches, client events, UK industry events, platform partner events, and additional promotional events.
  • Drive attendance with a content management strategy and plan.

Here’s what we’re looking for:

  • 5+ years in a Marketing role within a marketing services agency. 
  • A strong understanding of the creative industry landscape.
  • Must have experience in delivering medium to large-scale marketing initiatives, such as activations at MAD Fest, Cannes Lions, or Web Summit. 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft compelling content and engage with various stakeholders. 
  • Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to handle multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Creative storyteller and problem-solving abilities, with a keen eye for detail.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and manage relationships with external partners.
  • A curious self-starter with a problem-solving mindset and a proactive, can-do attitude.
  • Proficient in presentation management, including all Microsoft programs, Google Slides, Hubspot, Mailchimp, and/or PipeDrive.
  • Ideally, have experience with PR Newswire, Businessnewsire, PR tracking (i.e., Muck Rack, Meltwater, Cision).
  • Proven ability to create and manage timelines with attention to detail.
  • Experience in budget tracking and vendor management.
