Role Overview
The Manager, Production Safety (EMEA) supports the implementation and execution of safety programs across film and television productions in the EMEA region. This role serves as a field-level subject matter expert, providing guidance to producers, production executives, and production partners to help ensure safe and compliant working environments throughout prep, production, and strike.
The position operates with a high degree of autonomy in the field while escalating complex, high-risk, or precedent-setting matters to senior leadership. It helps ensure standards are applied, communicated, and enforced consistently.

Key Responsibilities
 

Production Safety & Field Support

  • Support the implementation, operationalization, and ongoing management of safety programs across EMEA-based productions.
  • Provide field-level production safety oversight and advisory support to producers, production executives, department heads, and production partners.
  • Serve as a primary regional point of contact for production safety matters, escalating issues to senior management as appropriate.
  • Provide subject matter expertise during prep, physical production and strike to help ensure safe and healthful workplaces for cast and crew.
  • Deliver training, guidance, and on-site consultation related to occupational safety and health practices within the production environment.
     

Regulatory Compliance & Risk Management

  • Support compliance with applicable local, national, and regional safety regulations, including UK Health and Safety Executive requirements and other country-specific regulatory bodies.
  • Assist with the development, review, and implementation of general and operational risk assessments when required.
  • Act as a liaison with regulators and inspectors under the direction of senior management, supporting inspections, inquiries, and follow-up actions.
  • Conduct routine production audits and site inspections to assess compliance with SPE standards and regulatory requirements; document findings and track corrective actions.
     

Technical & Environmental Safety

  • Provide guidance on environmental compliance matters, including hazardous waste management and environmental hazard recognition (e.g., lead, asbestos, mold).
  • Advise productions on fire and life safety, fall protection, basic electrical safety, structural considerations, and other common production hazards.

Collaboration & Cross-Functional Support

  • Work closely with internal SPE partners including Risk Management, Legal/Labor Relations, Sustainability, and other S3 teams to align safety practices and resolve issues.
  • Support productions outside EMEA when requested and when coverage is not available through regional safety teams.

Qualifications & Experience

Required

  • Typically, 3–5+ years of field-level production safety experience on motion picture and/or television productions, or equivalent experience in high-risk field environments.
  • Solid working knowledge of UK and European safety regulations and how they apply to production environments.
  • Strong understanding of industry safety standards and best practices within film and television production.
  • Working knowledge of physical production processes and common production hazards.
  • Ability to provide clear, practical safety guidance and consultation to production teams.
  • Proven experience in report writing within a production environment.
  • Security experience (desirable)
  • Strong ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and operate effectively in fast-paced production environments.
  • A high standard in influencing and interpersonal skills, in order to build and develop strong client and internal relationships (essential)
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills (essential)

  • Willingness and ability to travel extensively.

Certifications & Education

  • OSHA 30-hour certification or country-specific equivalent required.
  • NEBOSH certification preferred or equivalent regional credential.
  • College-level coursework or training in occupational safety, construction safety, industrial hygiene, fire and life safety, environmental health, or a related field preferred.
