We are seeking an entrepreneurial operator to join GLG's Advisory & Placements team and build our interim management practice from the ground up. This is a rare opportunity to found and scale a new business line within one of the world's leading expert networks — with an existing PE client base, a 1M+ expert network as your talent pool, and the commercial infrastructure of a global business behind you. Our team works with senior-level member clients, predominantly with Private Equity firms to help them source Board Members and Pre-Deal/Operating Advisors. The individuals we typically deploy are C-level executives with either robust operating knowledge or deep functional/domain expertise. The team works across our EMEA and North American client base. However, this individual would sit in London and will play a vital role in helping scale the new interim revenue stream. Candidates should be comfortable with the fast-paced and demanding world of Private Equity. This is a great opportunity to grow an emerging business line within an established company.

Core Responsibilities

  • Own project execution and delivery on client searches, from inception through to completion
  • Work with GLG's existing PE client-facing and back-office teams to identify and convert interim mandates from the established client base. Engage in business development activities alongside the sales organization to broaden client base and drive depth and breadth of relationships.
  • Define and lead the go-to-market strategy, establishing the commercial model, operational playbook and quality standards for the interim practice.
  • Work with the wider business to help build out GLG’s interim network whilst also looking to establish GLG as a recognised provider of interim services for Private Equity clients.
  • Support the implementation of the product and go-to-market strategy for the Interim practice as well as the Advisory & Placements practice more broadly. This role will have a  specific focus on EMEA.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Take a leading role in managing and scaling EMEA revenue across the Advisory & Placements business more broadly. This will involve building a robust/sustainable business model that meets the needs of our PE clients and their portfolio companies whilst also complimenting GLG’s wider product suite
  • Develop a targeted strategy to recruit senior executives into the GLG network to continuously improve the pool of talent available for Placements.
  • Help uphold and drive continuous improvement in relation to internal workflows and GLG’s Board Placement Search process.

This position requires frequent and tactful communication and negotiation with decision makers at client firms (Managing/General Partner and VP level).

To be considered for this role, the candidate must have strong communication skills, prior experience dealing with senior-level clients and have demonstrated effectiveness, confidence, and skill in speaking to C-level and other senior executives.

Required Skills
For this specific position, the following factors will strengthen an applicant’s candidacy:

  • Ideally 4- 5 years + experience in a revenue generating executive interim role serving PE clients.
  • Proven track record of scaling interim revenue and a deep knowledge of interim business model.
  • Has the ability to work independently and advise the broader GLG business on the best scale an interim practice.
  • Understanding and general awareness of financial markets (experience working with Private Equity firms is a plus);
  • Executive-level communication skills, including oral, written, and presentation abilities;
  • Ability to liaise with and drive priorities with cross functional teams;
  • Highly process oriented and able to manage competing priorities such as project delivery and business development,
  • Demonstrated commitment, judgment, emotional maturity, and intensity, ideally in a fast-paced, multi-task-oriented environment;
  • A passion for growth and business development
