We are seeking an experienced and collaborative Major Overhaul Programme Manager to lead the planning, coordination and delivery of our heavy overhaul and major component repair programme across TMI. This is a critical leadership role responsible for ensuring maintenance activities are delivered safely, efficiently and on time, balancing planned overhaul schedules with unplanned fleet maintenance demands. The successful candidate will play a key role in improving fleet reliability and availability, driving operational excellence and supporting the delivery of transport services.

This is an exciting opportunity to lead a critical maintenance programme that directly impacts operational performance and customer service. You will have the opportunity to shape maintenance strategy, drive continuous improvement and play a significant role in enhancing fleet availability and reliability.

This permanent position is based at our Temple Mills depot in Leyton, London.

The role requires you to be onsite a minimum of 4 days in 5. There will be flexibility to the start and finish time between the hours of 7.00am – 7.00pm.

We’re looking for someone to:

·        Be responsible for leading, planning and delivering the heavy overhaul and major component repair programme across TMI, ensuring that the work is managed safely and effectively, balancing planned and unplanned fleet maintenance requirements.

·        Work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to ensure materials, resources and equipment are available against the maintenance plan.

·        Implement a robust schedule for overhaul delivery, improving the workflow to gain efficiencies against the transport delivery plan and improve fleet availability.

·        Lead and develop the overhaul team, monitoring delivery against plan, safety, quality and cost.

·        Deliver the full life cycle strategy for overhaul & heavy maintenance.

You'll need...

·        Proven leadership and management experience across multi-disciplinary teams, ideally within a rolling stock maintenance or heavy engineering environment, with a track record of delivering operational and safety performance.

·        Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across multiple departments to ensure the uninterrupted delivery of maintenance activities and operational services.

·        Experience of applying Lean methodologies to improve workflow efficiency, optimise resource utilisation and enhance operational performance.

·        Financial and commercial awareness, including experience managing budgets and controlling depot operating costs.

·        Experience of planning, coordinating and delivering heavy overhaul programmes within a production, engineering or maintenance environment.

·        Engineering experience and knowledge to underpin decision making.

·        Relevant Engineering qualifications (desirable).

·        A relevant Health & Safety qualification, such as IOSH Managing Safely or the NEBOSH General Certificate, is desirable.

·        IT Literacy for planning and performance reporting, with experience using a maintenance management system to plan, record and monitor work.

·        A strong knowledge of Health & Safety Regulations.
