As M&A Manager, you will play a key role in the team through the identification and assessment of potential M&A opportunities, ranging from acquisition, divestments, joint ventures and strategic partnerships.  This will include support on valuation models, undertaking financial due diligence and leading on smaller scale transactions (<£1m).

How you’ll help us make health happen

  • Support the team in the development and implementation of an ongoing programme of acquisitions, divestments, joint ventures and strategic partnerships.

  • Support transactions including appraisal of opportunity, financial due diligence and commercial assessment.

  • Assess the key metrics on transactions on the business unit and market unit such as ROCE/profitability/capital requirements etc

  • Support on valuation workstreams for larger transactions and lead for smaller transactions, which includes the development and ownership of the valuation model and partnering with finance teams across the MU

  • Conduct financial due diligence with support from M&A Senior Manager or Head of M&A

  • For smaller transactions, you will be leading/managing the process on a day-to-day basis, including any discussions around pre agreed commercial terms during the SPA/APA negotiation period in conjunction with the appointed external legal firm with the support of the Head of M&A.

  • Leading on projects and delivering high quality, relevant and timely reporting and financial appraisals in a way that enables the MU approval body to understand suitability

  • Contribute to papers, briefings and advice regarding valuation, risks and opportunities for the MU so that appropriate management decisions can be taken.

  • Support in preparation of business cases for MU approval and for Corporate Centre governance

  • Carrying out Post Acquisition and Investment reviews

Key Skills/Qualifications needed for this role

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent

  • Professional qualification (ACA, ACCA or CIMA) or equivalent from practice

  • Relevant post qualification commercial experience, including M&A ideally in healthcare provision and insurance

  • Experienced in financial due diligence, including determining QofE, Net Debt and adjusted working capital adjustments and considerations  

  • Ability to carry out financial appraisals and modelling

  • Skilled in problem solving, interpreting complex information and ability to translate their impact on transactions in a clear and logical way

  • Strong analytical and financial evaluation skills, with the ability to search out relevant information, insights, financial risk and opportunity and any other financial implications on the transaction

  • Skilled in managing large datasets, organising these in a way which can be easily digested by the business

  • Good influencing and communication skills, both verbal and written

  • A good relationship builder, who can support and challenge colleagues at all levels of seniority including executive management from different functions in a constructive and effective manner.

  • Ability to manage numerous tasks/projects and work under pressure and adapting to changing and ambiguous situations
