ROLE OVERVIEW

We are seeking a highly detail-oriented and culturally aware Localization Testing Manager for an initial 1-year contract to join our team, dedicated to one of our flagship accounts, a global leader in Digital Media Services. In this role, you will lead linguistic and functional QA testing across multiple languages, platforms (mobile, web, smart TVs, and streaming devices), and international markets.

You will act as a critical bridge between Welocalize's operations and our client’s product teams. Your mission is to ensure that localized user experiences are functionally seamless, contextually accurate, and culturally resonant, while keeping all QA testing efforts aligned with the overarching Quality Program strategy.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Plan, manage, and execute comprehensive linguistic and functional localization QA across digital media platforms, streaming UI, metadata, and promotional content.
  • Develop, maintain, and scale QA test plans, test cases, and test runs, ensuring bug reports are highly actionable and well-documented for client engineering teams.

  • Partner with external testing vendors, in-country language reviewers, and localization PMs to ensure high-quality, scalable, and on-time QA coverage.

  • Collaborate closely with client-side engineers, product owners, content designers, and regional market experts under the Localization Operations Program.

  • Gather and synthesize market-specific feedback on linguistic and cultural nuances to champion inclusive, highly localized, and market-appropriate user experiences.

  • Identify patterns in localization bugs, analyze systemic issues, and proactively propose upstream workflow improvements to optimize translation memories, style guides, and glossaries.

  • Oversee testing coverage across a wide matrix of devices, ensuring consistent UI layout, font rendering, and functional behavior across iOS, Android, Web, and OTT (Over-the-Top) platforms.

  • Advocate for culturally relevant content and inclusive experiences in all localized products.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Possess 4+ years of hands-on experience in localization QA, linguistic testing, internationalization (i18n), or global release validation, ideally within a fast-paced digital media, streaming, or consumer technology environment.

  • Demonstrate a deep understanding of functional QA testing methodologies, test plan execution, regression testing, and the overall software development lifecycle (SDLC) across mobile, web, and smart device applications.

  • Proven experience executing, coordinating, or managing complex linguistic quality assurance reviews across diverse international markets, successfully handling high volumes of content across multiple languages and locales.

  • Apply a sophisticated understanding of cultural sensitivities, regional regulatory nuances, local adaptation best practices, and inclusive language guidelines to ensure all digital media content is locally relevant and brand-compliant.

  • Showcase exceptional written and verbal communication skills, characterized by a meticulous eye for linguistic precision, user interface layout issues, font rendering anomalies, and overall visual polish.

  • Maintain professional fluency in English alongside at least one additional language, paired with a demonstrated ability to objectively evaluate, score, and benchmark translation quality across various global markets.

  • Work proficiently with industry-standard bug tracking database systems, test case management software, and cross-platform testing environments, including JIRA, TestRail, XBench, BrowserStack, and modern Translation Management Systems (TMS).

OTHER SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional, highly matrixed teams, including product engineering, digital content design, and regional marketing leads, to ensure global alignment on localization standards.

  • Champion and support user experience (UX) writing, content strategy, and inclusive language initiatives to ensure the localized digital media product feels native and accessible to all audiences.

  • Leverage a strong professional background in localization for high-growth consumer technology, media streaming (SVOD/AVOD), or interactive digital content platforms to navigate rapid content release cycles.

  • Utilize a robust working knowledge of internationalization (i18n) principles, string extraction pipelines, localized file formats (JSON, XML, strings), and industry-standard translation memory and translation management system (TMS) tooling.
