Here at Standard Life, we're looking for a Collateral and Liquidity Specialist with strong knowledge of OTC derivatives and collateral funding models to join our growing Asset Management business.

This is more than a reporting role. You’ll be close to the investment and liquidity activity that matters, using complex data to understand the impact of market volatility, trading activity and collateral movements, while helping us strengthen how we manage and oversee liquidity across the business.

Alongside the day-to-day, there’s genuine scope to challenge, improve and shape our existing collateral and liquidity framework, bringing your expertise and ideas to an evolving operating model.

Job Type:  Permanent
Location: This role can be based in our London / Birmingham offices, and the team spend 3 days per week in the office. We will discuss what is important to you and balancing this with business requirements during the recruitment process. You can read more about flexible working here.
Salary and benefits: c.£75,000 (subject to experience) + discretionary competitive bonus, private medical cover, 38 days annual leave, excellent pension, 12x salary life assurance, career breaks, income protection, 3x volunteering days and much more.

Who are we?
We’re Standard Life, a retirement specialist focused entirely on retirement savings and income. We champion the belief that everyone’s journey to and through retirement can be better, and for more than 200 years, we’ve been helping our customers plan and prepare for their financial futures.

Life today is increasingly complicated, uncertain and unpredictable. People move through different careers, face unexpected moments and navigate important choices. We offer our colleagues flexibility, trust and benefits that work for whatever life brings. In return we expect curiosity, connection, accountability and high standards. We make room for what matters - so you can bring your best, every day.

The Role

Sitting within our Retirement Solutions & Asset Management (RS&AM) business, you’ll join the Asset Management COO – Treasury Operations team, a key function providing operational oversight and control across risk management, governance and regulatory reporting.

You’ll play an important role in collateral and liquidity oversight, analysing underlying asset pools, reviewing liquidity positions and ensuring management information is accurate, insightful and supports effective decision-making.

You’ll work closely with stakeholders across the business to investigate material movements and regulatory reporting queries, translating complex information into clear insight and ensuring significant impacts are understood, communicated and escalated appropriately.

Importantly, you won’t simply maintain what already exists. We want someone who can bring curiosity, challenge and fresh thinking, helping us evolve our framework and add tangible value to the way we operate.

Key Responsibilities

You’ll work across a broad mix of collateral, liquidity and change activity, including:

  • Turning complexity into insight by analysing collateral balances, margin requirements and liquidity positions, identifying material movements and helping stakeholders understand what sits behind them.
  • Optimising collateral and liquidity, overseeing activity associated with the Standard Life Longbox model and supporting the effective use of eligible assets and collateral pools.
  • Strengthening how we operate, contributing to change initiatives that enhance reporting, operational controls and the wider operating model.
  • Keeping us ahead of change by understanding the operational impact of regulatory developments and supporting liquidity-related regulatory reporting.
  • Supporting the evolution of the business, including the integration of new activity arising from closed-book acquisitions, open-book business and BPA.
  • Influencing through insight, producing high-quality MI and communicating material liquidity and collateral impacts clearly to stakeholders.

What are we looking for?

You’ll bring strong technical knowledge, but just as importantly, you’ll be curious, analytical and comfortable challenging what you see. You’ll enjoy getting underneath complex information, understanding what’s driving it and looking for ways to make things better.

Ideally, you’ll have:

  • Strong knowledge of OTC derivatives and collateral models, including cleared, OTC and ETD/F&O.
  • A good understanding of the trade lifecycle across fixed income and derivatives.
  • Experience using complex data and analysis to support regulatory reporting and/or senior-level MI.
  • The confidence to investigate, challenge and communicate what the data is telling you.
  • A proactive mindset and approach, and the appetite to help shape and improve an evolving and transforming area of the business.

We want to hire the whole version of you.

We are committed to ensuring that everyone feels accepted and welcome applicants from all backgrounds. If your experience looks different from what we’ve advertised and you believe that you can bring value to the role, we’d love to hear from you.

If you require any adjustments to the recruitment process, please let us know so we can help you to be at your best.

We’re reviewing applications as they come in and may close this role before the closing date, so apply early to avoid missing out.
