Level 3 HR Support Apprenticeship – Priestmead Primary School


We are looking for a motivated, organised and enthusiastic HR Support Apprentice to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity for someone looking to begin a career in Human Resources while gaining valuable workplace experience and working towards a nationally recognised Level 3 HR Support Apprenticeship.

Working alongside the HR Manager, the successful candidate will provide administrative and operational support across the HR function while also gaining experience of wider business and school operations.

The role offers exposure to recruitment, onboarding, employee administration, compliance, training coordination, meetings, communications and office support, providing a broad and well-rounded apprenticeship experience.

The apprentice will also provide support to the wider office team and Senior Leadership Team where required, developing a strong understanding of how HR contributes to the effective running of the Trust.

They will be expected to demonstrate initiative, work independently when appropriate, and uphold the Trust’s values of professionalism, collaboration, integrity and continuous improvement.



 Apprenticeship Summary:

  • Salary: £8.00 an hour
  • Working Week: Monday to Friday 8:30am – 3:00pm including a 30 mins break
  • Hours: 30 hours per week
  • Online apprenticeship training supported by our skilled tutors

 The Role:

Key Responsibilities


 Main Duties:

Recruitment & Onboarding

  • Support the recruitment process by posting vacancies and managing applications.
  • Schedule interviews and communicate professionally with candidates.
  • Prepare offer letters, contracts of employment and recruitment documentation.
  • Assist with onboarding activities and induction programmes for new starters.
  • Maintain accurate recruitment records and documentation.
  • Support pre-employment checks, including references and compliance documentation.

HR Administration

  • Maintain employee records and HR systems, ensuring information is accurate and up to date.
  • Process HR documentation, correspondence and employee changes.
  • Support the administration of absence, holiday and sickness records.
  • Assist with HR reporting and data management.
  • Ensure employee files remain compliant with data protection and employment requirements.
  • Maintain confidentiality when handling sensitive employee information.

HR Meetings & Governance

  • Organise HR meetings, prepare agendas and supporting documentation.
  • Attend meetings where required and take accurate, confidential minutes and action notes.
  • Monitor actions arising from meetings and support follow-up activities.
  • Assist with the preparation of reports and documentation for senior leaders.

Employee Support

  • Act as a first point of contact for routine HR enquiries.
  • Support employees with HR processes and procedures, escalating matters where appropriate.
  • Assist with employee engagement initiatives and wellbeing activities.
  • Help coordinate staff meetings, events and communications.
  • Promote a positive and professional working environment.

Learning & Development

  • Support the organisation and administration of training activities.
  • Maintain training records and monitor completion rates.
  • Assist with induction programmes for new employees.
  • Support apprenticeship and staff development initiatives.
  • Gain practical experience across all aspects of HR to support apprenticeship learning outcomes.

Compliance & Policies

  • Assist with right to work checks and safer recruitment documentation.
  • Support policy reviews, updates and staff communications.
  • Help ensure HR practices align with employment legislation, safeguarding requirements and Trust procedures.
  • Maintain accurate records to support audits and compliance activities.

Wider Business & Administrative Support

  • Provide administrative support to the wider office team as required.
  • Assist the Senior Leadership Team with administrative tasks, meetings and projects.
  • Support general office operations during busy periods, demonstrating flexibility and teamwork.
  • Contribute to the smooth day-to-day running of the Trust by providing high-quality administrative support across departments.
  • Take ownership of allocated tasks and work independently, using initiative to identify solutions and improve processes while recognising when guidance is needed.

Desired Skills

  • Previous administrative experience (not essential).
  • GCSEs at grades A*–C / 9–4 (or equivalent) in Maths and English
  • Experience using Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook.
  • Interest in Human Resources, employment law or people management.
  • Experience of working within an education or office environment (desirable but not essential).

Training and Development:

As an apprentice, you will receive support through both on-the-job learning and formal training as part of your apprenticeship programme. This will typically include:

  • Study towards a relevant qualification, Level 3 HR Support Diploma.
  • On-the-job training and mentoring from experienced professionals.
  • Regular review meetings to track progress and development.

Pre-employment checks. Please be aware that upon a successful offer of employment the company completes digitalised right-to-work checks and DBS applications via an external provider - 'Matrix Screening'. The company also
