YOUR IMPACT

The EMEA Wealth Management Legal team includes lawyers based in the UK, Zurich and Frankfurt. In the UK, the team is split across London and Birmingham. Team members regularly work closely with colleagues in PWM Legal in the US and Asia.

Lawyers in Wealth Management Legal advise a diverse group of clients across the PWM businesses. They frequently collaborate with colleagues across the broader Legal Division and thrive in a fast-paced environment, delivering consistently high-quality advice to dynamic and evolving businesses.

We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic, proactive and resilient candidate based in London, Birmingham or Zurich. This is a broad role supporting the Capital Markets, Private Bank and Regulatory teams within Wealth Management Legal.

The successful candidate will be expected to work independently from day one and manage a diverse and complex workload. This will include transactional work, primarily focused on loan transactions, as well as advising on the regulatory implications of existing and new business initiatives.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Structuring and drafting documentation for lending products, including securities-based loans, consumer loans, deposits, regulated mortgages, structured asset-backed loans and real estate financings.

  • Supporting the growing Capital Markets and Private Bank businesses on new product and platform launches, as well as business transformation projects.

  • Leveraging AI tools to streamline transaction execution through automation and playbook development.

  • Advising on collateral enforceability and security registration across EMEA jurisdictions.

  • Advising on the UK and European regulatory regimes affecting the Capital Markets and Private Bank businesses, including CRD, MiFID II, MAR, EMIR, consumer credit and mortgage regulation, and jurisdictional licensing requirements for securities and banking transactions.

  • Liaising with lawyers across the Goldman Sachs Legal Division globally on regulatory interpretation, advocacy and implementation.

  • Working with outside counsel on a broad range of domestic and cross-border jurisdictional issues.

Skills and Experience:

We are seeking qualified lawyers with a minimum of two years’ post-qualification experience. Candidates should have either prior lending and/or derivatives transactional experience, or general financial services advisory experience combined with a willingness to move into a transactional role.

Relevant experience may have been gained at a reputable law firm and/or in-house. Very strong English language skills are required. Knowledge of a major European language would be useful but is not essential.
