Wordsmith

Most legal teams are drowning. They’re buried under internal questions, contract reviews, policy approvals, and fire drills from every corner of the business.

Wordsmith is the AI command center for in-house legal. We automate the chaos—intake, Q&A, redlines, drafting, and research—so legal can finally operate at the speed of business.

Backed by Index Ventures and some of the sharpest minds in law and AI, we’re scaling fast across London, New York, and beyond. Our customers include fast-growth tech companies and public enterprises. We’re building the future of legal work.

Mission:

Bridge the gap between legal expertise and AI product development by embedding legal insight directly into how our tools work, feel, and evolve. Your work will influence everything from workflows and playbooks to prompt design and UX.

Key Responsibilities:

- Translate legal knowledge into structured inputs, outputs, and best-practice workflows

- Partner with product, engineering, and design to ship features grounded in real legal use-cases

- Collaborate with customers and legal teams to identify patterns, problems, and opportunities

- Help define and build the next generation of legal playbooks, templates, and automation

- Prototype, test, and refine legal logic behind key product flows

Experience & Qualifications:

- 2–5 years of experience in legal operations, legal practice, or legal tech

- Deep understanding of how in-house legal teams work, particularly around contracts, compliance, and workflows

- Prior experience in legal operations is highly valued—this background helps you think in systems, processes, and stakeholder needs

- Passion for legal innovation and how AI can reshape the future of work

- Excellent communication skills - you can explain complex ideas simply

- Bonus: familiarity with LLMs, legal design, or structured content models

What We Offer:

- High-impact role with ownership across product and customer experience

- Opportunity to shape a fast-growing category at the intersection of law + AI

- Collaborative, values-driven team with deep respect for domain expertise

- Flexible hybrid work, competitive compensation, and meaningful equity

Who You Are:

You might be a former lawyer, legal ops lead, or legal technologist who’s excited about building rather than billing. You’re curious, structured, and energised by turning ambiguity into scalable systems. You get joy from both the law and the tooling that supports it—and you want to leave your mark on what legal work looks like in the AI era.
