Job Description

As Legal Counsel you’ll be a key point of contact for the business for the technology and product workstreams (including helping the business imbed AI across a broad range of use cases), payments related advices, advertising and consumer regulatory advice and general commercial advices. This role will give you the opportunity to assist the Head of Legal and Senior Legal Counsel in each of the above sub-areas - but there will also be the opportunity to support on matters outside of these areas.

The role is critical in helping the wider ASOS Legal Team meet the needs and requirements of all elements of ASOS’ business across the globe, requiring the ability to give commercial as well as legal advice, often on cross-border matters, and to promptly identify risks and issues that need to be escalated within the company.

Prior experience in all of the above areas is not a requirement, but the role would suit someone who is hands-on and commercially minded, with a strong professional ethic, energy and interest to learn and pursue a broad array of commercial, legal and risk/reputation management matters.

The Details

Payments

  • Review, draft and negotiate a range of financial and payment services contracts such as for payment acquiring and Buy Now Pay Later purchasing options.
  • Providing knowledge and expertise on the finance/payments aspects of other contracts and negotiations generally as well as pertinent related regulatory matters.
  • Work closely with Finance, Tech & Procurement Teams to assist with the implementation of payment/FinTech developments, supporting our various ecommerce offerings (website, mobile-web, apps, etc), and advise on new opportunities and inherent risks.

  • Supporting our culture by championing Diversity, Equity & Inclusion strategies.

We believe being together in person helps us move faster, connect more deeply, and achieve more as a team. That’s why our approach to working together includes spending at least 3 days a week in the office. It’s a rhythm that speeds up decision-making, helps ASOSers learn from each other more quickly, and builds the kind of culture where people can grow, create, and succeed.
