About the role:

We are currently looking to hire an experienced Legal Counsel in our London office to work within a global Legal & Compliance team.  The successful candidate is expected to work closely with global internal divisions and external clients, service providers and advisers. This is an exciting role reporting to the General Counsel primarily and supporting the wider Legal and Compliance team.

Responsibilities:

  • Proven track record through a fund cycle, including issues related to the establishment, structuring, launch, marketing and distribution of hedge funds
  • Negotiation of material fund contracts including IMAs, SLAs and administration agreements as required
  • Drafting and negotiating various trading agreements including brokerage, ISDAs, GMRAs and other agreements
  • Assisting on general corporate and governance matters
  • Negotiating SLAs, research agreements, employment contracts and service provider agreements
  • Liaising with fund boards, service providers, external advisers and external counsel as appropriate

Requirements
  • Top tier academics from a reputable university/law school.
  • Must have at least 5+ years PQE of experience in trading, buy-side experience gained within a law firm and/or in-house team.
  • Familiarity with current European, UK and US regulatory regimes that affect the business including MiFID II, FCA Conduct of Business, GDPR , EMIR, and Short selling.
  • Knowledge of a global business model and proven experience working on and managing multiple projects simultaneously in a dynamic business and regulatory environment.
  • Strong drafting and analytical skills and excellent attention to detail, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced highly dynamic environment and demonstrating commercial awareness.
  • Strong ability to analyze and convey levels of potential risk and safeguard the business from legal and regulatory risk.
  • A strong self-starter willing to work cohesively in a team-oriented environment and capable of working independently.
  • Operates with the highest degree of ethics and integrity.
