Who we are

Samsara (NYSE: IOT) is the pioneer of the Connected Operations™ Cloud, which is a platform that enables organizations that depend on physical operations to harness Internet of Things (IoT) data to develop actionable insights and improve their operations. At Samsara, we are helping improve the safety, efficiency and sustainability of the physical operations that power our global economy. Representing more than 40% of global GDP, these industries are the infrastructure of our planet, including agriculture, construction, field services, transportation, and manufacturing — and we are excited to help digitally transform their operations at scale.

Working at Samsara means you’ll help define the future of physical operations and be on a team that’s shaping an exciting array of product solutions, including Video-Based Safety, Vehicle Telematics, Apps and Driver Workflows, and Equipment Monitoring. As part of a recently public company, you’ll have the autonomy and support to make an impact as we build for the long term.

Samsara’s Legal team strives to create value and ensure that Samsara meets its mission by providing accessible and business-oriented legal guidance. We do so through creative problem solving, excellence and transparency in execution, and exhibiting good judgment in providing ethical and empathetic partnership across the business.

Samsara is searching for a versatile Legal Counsel to join our Legal team in Europe. You will support the growth of our business in Europe and collaborate closely with functions across the company on commercial and other general legal matters in Europe. Your main priority will be to negotiate and close commercial deals with our customers, business partners, and vendors in Europe, as well as to generally develop and scale our commercial contracting workflows there. You will also have the opportunity to support legal workflows in other subject matters as needed to support our growing operations in Europe, which may include local employment, regulatory, corporate, product, and/or compliance matters. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in commercial contracting in Europe, particularly the United Kingdom, and be highly self-motivated and capable of managing a demanding workload. You can take ownership of a vaguely defined goal and drive it forward to achieve an optimal outcome. Your diligence, judgment, and discretion make you a trusted counterpart in sensitive environments.

Our most successful team members excel in a dynamic, fast-paced environment and can drive projects of varying complexity in collaboration with multiple teams. They embrace new challenges and the unexpected and can clearly distill their analysis into actionable and scalable guidance, always in consideration of the diverse needs of their business stakeholders. They are willing to jump in to assist their colleagues on any project, large or small, regardless of whether it falls within their scope of expertise.

You should apply if:

  • You want to impact the industries that run our world: Your efforts will result in real-world impact—helping to keep the lights on, get food into grocery stores, reduce emissions, and most importantly, ensure workers return home safely.
  • You are the architect of your own career: If you put in the work, this role won’t be your last at Samsara. We set up our employees for success and have built a culture that encourages rapid career development, countless opportunities to experiment and master your craft in a hyper growth environment.
  • You’re energised by our opportunity: The vision we have to digitize large sectors of the global economy requires your full focus and best efforts to bring forth creative, ambitious ideas for our customers.
  • You want to be with the best: At Samsara, we win together, celebrate together and support each other. You will be surrounded by a high-calibre team that will encourage you to do your best.

In this role, you will:

  • Develop and scale commercial contracting workflows in Europe, including by drafting and developing form agreements and building and improving contracting and related compliance tools and processes.
  • Have the opportunity to support the growth of the company’s business in Europe in a broad range of legal subject matters, which may include employment, regulatory, corporate, product, compliance, and/or commercial matters.
  • Work with the Legal team and cross-functional partners to drive strategic business and legal initiatives in Europe and act as a trusted partner to relevant stakeholders like Sales, Sales Operations, Partnerships, Finance, Customer Success, Marketing, Product, People, Operations, and Customer Support teams.
  • Help build a best-in-class legal function for the company in Europe.
  • Answer questions and offer legal advice on a wide range of issues, projects, and initiatives across the company.
  • Exercise initiative and creativity in solving challenges and accomplishing business goals.
  • Champion, role model, and embed Samsara’s cultural principles (Focus on Customer Success, Build for the Long Term, Adopt a Growth Mindset, Be Inclusive, Win as a Team) as we scale globally and across new offices.

Minimum requirements for the role:

  • 4+ years of commercial legal experience in a law firm and/or in-house position in the United Kingdom, including experience drafting and negotiating complex commercial contracts.
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills that allow for clear communication (both written and verbal).
  • Interest in being a true partner to our business stakeholders and immersing yourself in the ins and outs of our business and the industry in which we operate.
  • Ability to build, develop, and maintain strong cross-functional relationships.
  • A high degree of professional integrity, ethics, and sound judgment.
  • Be a highly proactive self-starter who delivers quality work within tight timelines.
  • Be humble, adaptable, and flexible, with a growth mindset and desire to work on a variety of matters.
  • Law degree from a top university with strong academic credentials.
  • Be a qualified solicitor or barrister of good standing in England & Wales.
  • Be based in the United Kingdom but ideally close to London.

An ideal candidate also has:
