The role

Join our Head of Legal to help scale our legal function, navigate complex challenges, and shape the future of our value-driven organisation. We’re looking for a passionate legal professional who thrives on variety, collaboration, and making a real impact. If you’re forward-thinking, detail-oriented, and ready to tackle exciting challenges, this could be the perfect role for you.

Your mission

We’re ramping up our legal function and need your help to drive an ambitious roadmap of legal and compliance initiatives. This is your chance to roll up your sleeves, lead meaningful projects, and create policies, processes, and training that will turbocharge our business.

Your main mission? To supercharge the legal function by lightening the load on our Head of Legal and demystifying day-to-day legal quandaries for our favourite customers – the business.

As a member of a very small legal team, it goes without saying that you will be a key player in our quest for excellence.

What you'll be working on

The life of an in-house lawyer is varied and each day is a veritable roulette of tasks; one day you might be negotiating terms with a client and the next you could be reviewing a new AI tool for legal issues. To give you a bit more of an understanding of the kinds of tasks that may come your way, here is a non-exhaustive selection:

  • Undertaking legal reviews for all new supplier contracts and being the ultimate gatekeeper of our contracts approval policy. Maintaining our existing supplier contract database in our contract management system to ensure we don’t miss a renewal!
  • Helping our sales team with tricky client queries on our terms and conditions and attending calls to negotiate with clients directly.
  • Conducting reviews of AI tools to make sure it's compliant with our AI Tool policy.
  • Horizon scanning for any upcoming legislative changes and providing updates to the business in a fun but informative way.
  • Responding to various queries in our #ask-legal slack channel and providing relevant advice.

  • There will also be a number of projects to sink your teeth into which, if we pull off, will deliver significant efficiencies and hopefully be the start of our legal and compliance nirvana. Here’s a sneak peek of the subject matter of those projects:

  • Continuing the refinement and improvement of our data protection framework.
  • Revamping our internal playbook for our sales teams, facilitating contract training sessions and improving the client due diligence process.
  • Helping our clients get to know how we do legal/compliance by creating an information hub so that they can self-serve.

What you'll bring to the team

  • We believe the right attitude and approach are just as important as technical skills. Our priority is to find someone who not only possesses the technical competencies required for the role but, more importantly, brings a proactive and dedicated approach to what they do and embodies a positive work ethic.

  • Qualified solicitor (England and Wales) with 4+ years PQE in-house.
  • Strong experience drafting, negotiating, and reviewing contracts.
  • Knowledge of data protection regulations and international privacy laws.
  • Excellent advisory skills with the ability to simplify complex topics.

What will set you apart

  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
  • A proactive, self-motivated work ethic and the ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Tech-savvy, with experience using legal databases, IT tools, and a keen interest in legal tech or automation.
  • Sound judgment and discretion in high-stakes situations.
  • Commercial awareness, balancing legal risks with business needs.
  • Experience in tech or familiarity with software licensing, data privacy, or intellectual property.
  • A global mindset with an understanding of international legal frameworks.
  • Commitment to continuous learning and staying ahead of legal trends.

Salary

£75,000 - £90,000 base per annum dependent on skill and experience
