What will I be doing?

You will play a pivotal role in scaling the legal function, managing the daily flow of commercial agreements and helping to build the operational infrastructure that allows Kaluza to grow at speed.

  • Commercial Contracting: You will draft, review, and negotiate a high volume of commercial contracts, including service agreements, consultancy agreements, NDAs, third-party supplier agreements, and specific agreements relating to our Flex product offering.
  • Legal Operations & Tech: You will manage the "Legal Front Door" (our request intake system) and drive efficiency. A key project will be assisting in the scoping and implementation of a full Contract Lifecycle Management (CLM) system to automate our workflows.
  • Template Architecture: You will assist in creating and maintaining our library of legal templates, ensuring all Kaluza documentation is up-to-date, legally robust, and aligned with our house positions and branding.
  • Corporate Governance: You will support vital company secretarial matters, including Companies House filings, drafting board and shareholder resolutions, and assisting in the administration of the company share option scheme.
  • Advisory & Support: You will act as a trusted advisor on ad-hoc requests from across the business, covering a variety of topics as they arise. You will support the General Counsel and Senior Legal Counsel in laying a strong substantive and relationship foundation for the legal presence across the company.

About You 

Ideally you’ll have/be

  • Qualified Solicitor: You are a qualified solicitor in England and Wales.
  • Emerging Expertise: You have a minimum of 2+ years' PQE, gained primarily in-house with a technology company or in the commercial department of a leading private practice law firm.
  • Tech & Data Fluency: You have strong experience with commercial contracts, ideally within the software, SaaS, or technology infrastructure sectors. You possess a solid understanding of corporate law and data protection (GDPR), with the confidence to provide clear, practical advice across jurisdictions.
  • Commercial Mindset: You possess excellent commercial judgment. You can translate complex legal issues into clear, business-focused advice that stakeholders can understand and act upon.
  • Sharp Skills: Your drafting, analytical, and communication skills are excellent, and you have an unwavering attention to detail.

  • Scale-Up Experience: Previous experience working in a technology scale-up environment, where you have adapted to fast-paced change.
  • Judgement & Autonomy: You have the ability to manage a high volume of routine commercial agreements independently, combined with the self-awareness and judgment to know exactly when to escalate complex or high-risk matters to senior counsel.
  • Service Delivery: You are extremely responsive, with a team-focused and collaborative work style.
  • Curiosity: You are curious and creative, with a genuine willingness to build expertise, learn new systems, and solve new complex challenges.
