Junior Legal Counsel, Funds - London

We are seeking a talented individual to join our Legal, Compliance & Public Affairs team at Marsh, supporting the Investments business.

This is an excellent opportunity for you to build your knowledge and experience across a broad range of investment management and funds‑related matters within a global professional services firm.

We will count on you to:

  • Negotiate client investment management, advisory and similar or related agreements

  • Support strategic investment initiatives from a legal perspective

  • Provide legal advice on the structuring, establishment, and ongoing operation of UK and cross‑border investment funds and related investment vehicles

  • Advise on applicable UK regulatory frameworks, including the FCA Handbook and the UK AIFM regime, working closely with Compliance, Risk and external counsel

  • Draft, review, and negotiate fund documentation, including constitutional documents, investment management agreements, and service provider arrangements

  • Act as a trusted business partner to colleagues across Investments, Operations, Compliance, Risk and Finance, delivering pragmatic and commercially-focused advice

  • Identify and help manage legal and regulatory risks in line with Marsh’s risk management framework and internal policies

  • Contribute to legal knowhow, precedents, and process improvements

  • Opportunities to assist with investment-related acquisitions

What you need to have/be:

  • Qualified solicitor (England & Wales), gained within a leading law firm funds or asset management practice, or an in‑house legal team within asset management, investments, or financial services

  • Strong analysis, drafting and review skills

  • Excellent attention to detail

  • Proactive and self‑motivated, with a willingness to take on responsibility

  • Experience advising on funds matters, including liquid and illiquid funds

  • Sound legal knowledge with a strong understanding of liquid and illiquid fund structures and terms

  • Good understanding of the asset management industry and its regulatory environment

  • Clear, analytical thinker with the ability to see the bigger picture and assess commercial issues and risks

  • Effective negotiator, able to balance legal risk with commercial objectives

  • Able to work under pressure and manage competing priorities to meet deadlines
